Travelin' Home (CM9633) arr. Andrea Ramsey

Andrea Ramsay’s arrangement of “Travelin’ Home” is food for the soul. Inspired by sacred harp tunes "White" and "Long Sought Home," listening to this work is one opportunity to enjoy the tradition of sacred choral music as it flourished in the American South. The plaintive text and tender harmonies make this song not just a work, but an experience.

We at Carl Fischer Music and BriLee Music are deeply saddened by the news of Dr. Patrick Liebergen's sudden passing. Since 1987, we have had the immense privilege of working with Patrick on more than 100 projects, from scholarly critical editions of Renaissance and Baroque works to his arrangements of the classic Christmas favorite "Carol of the Bells", and his beloved "Rise Up In Festive Song", to name a few. Patrick was not only respected in the choral community for his detailed editions and sharp professional mind, but also known and loved for his warmth, leadership, and passion for music education. His enduring legacy remains in the scholarship he created, the music he made, and in the hearts of his colleagues, students, and friends. Our most heartfelt condolences go out to his family and friends. There could be no better way to remember him than to listen to his music.

"Christ, Be Born in Us" is a beautiful, original anthem inspired by the deepest meanings of Advent and Christmas.

Kyle Pederson has wonderfully written this setting of this thoughtful prayer, opening serenely in unison and building to add countermelodies in descant. Though perfect for the Advent and Christmas season, this piece hits the mark at any time of the year.

"[Reginal] understands his students. He understands how to teach more than just music. Choir is about learning how to deal with life as well as about learning how to make beautiful music."

“Verbum caro panem verum verbo carnem efficit…”

Take a trip back in time to the Spanish Renaissance with Jeb Mueller’s “Verbum Caro.” This arrangement of Tomas De Victoria’s beloved Renaissance motet has been excerpted from his first Pange Lingua and incorporates the original Roman melody, or cantus firmus. Time signature, bar lines, dynamics, and metronomic markings have been added in order to facilitate performances that musicologists believe mimic those of Victoria’s time.

If you’re looking for a piece to impress your audience at performance-time, look no further.

☕Happy National Espresso Day! Have you had your cup o’ joe yet? After singing Neil Johnson’s arrangement of “Coffee Grows on White Oak Trees,” your choir will feel energized and uplifted – no caffeine necessary!

Don’t be fooled by the leisurely and slower-paced opening: this party song and dance tune from the early American frontier was a favorite alternative to the popular "square dance"! With toe-tappin' rhythms and text that flies off the tongue, "Coffee Grows on White Oak Trees" is as enjoyable to perform as it is to hear!
