Hello Everyone, I’m currently casting ReelShort’s upcoming production of “The Lost Son…”; a Non-Union Vertical Mobisode (view though ReelShort App and on ReelShort’s website). The production is filming 10-11 days between 4/12-4/27, 2025 in Napa, CA area. The storyline takes place in a fantasy world (think “Game of Thornes” vibes). Each shooting day is 12 hours + lunch (unless otherwise specified in the character description). Please take this into consideration when evaluating rates.

Storyline: Kidnapped as a child, Arthur, Duke of Mercia, returns to his village to reunite with his long-lost family. What he didn't expect was to find them abused by everyone in town. With his identity a secret, will Arthur be able to avenge them?

Casting:

[Arthur Wellesley] Male, age 21-35. A young man in his prime. As a youth, he was kidnapped and conscripted into the army but earned the title of Duke on account of his battle prowess. He returns to Stamford to look for his parents and sister, but his memories are hazy due to a head injury in battle. Disguised as a commoner, he uncovers the real intention of his ‘devoted followers.’ And begins his revenge on those who had abused and tortured his family. The character is involved in fight scenes (Punching, Getting Punched, and lots of slapping). A stunt coordinator will be on set to provide instruction and monitor all cast members’ safety. The character also involves in intimate/kissing scene with a female scene partner. No Nudity, Nothing explicit. An intimacy coordinator will consult with the cast members prior to filming. Lead. $400/day – must be able to commitment to all production dates.

[Jane Wellesley] Female, age 35-50. A loving mother, Jane is willing to give up everything for her children, especially to find her son. Together with her husband Carl, they endure hardship, live in poverty, suffer through humiliation and abuse by a noble employer, with the goal of reuniting with their lost son. The character is involved in a fight scene (getting beaten), a stunt coordinator will be on set to provide instructions and monitor cast members' safety. Talent also should be comfortable with aging makeup (as performers will be portraying the character in two different eras); as well as stage blood and bruises. Lead. $400/day – must be able to commitment to all production dates.

[Anna Wellesley] Female, age 21-30. Arthur’s fiancé; serving as a maid at the Baron’s mansion. Virtuous and has a strong moral. The Baron plotted to ‘offer’ Anna as a gift to the duke, without knowing they actually knew each other (of course, it backfired at him) The character is involved in physical assault and abuse scene, actions include falling onto the ground, slapping and getting slapped. The character also involves in intimate/kissing scene with a male scene partner. No Nudity, Nothing explicit. An intimacy coordinator will consult with the cast members prior to filming. [Benjamin Bard] Male, age 35-50. Baron of Stamford and its highest authority. A self-centered, ruler’ of the town. Surrounded by corruption; a typical example of toxic personality attracts the same. When confronted by Arthur with receipts of his teams’ wrong doing; he tried his best to lie and redirect the fault to others. The character is involved in multiple fight scenes (beating and getting beaten, lots of slapping around), a stunt coordinator will be on set to provide instructions and monitor cast members' safety. Talent also should be comfortable with aging makeup (as performers will be portraying the character in two different eras); as well as stage blood and bruises. Supporting. $250/day.

[Carl Wellesley] Male, age 35-50. Arthur’s father. While he is poor, Carl is fiercely protective of his family and is willing to do anything for them. After years of suffering and abuse, he appears frailer than his actual age. The character is involved in a fight scene (getting beaten), a stunt coordinator will be on set to provide instructions and monitor cast members' safety. Talent also should be comfortable with aging makeup (as performers will be portraying the character in two different eras); as well as stage blood and bruises. Supporting. $250/day.

[Robert Wellesley] Male, age 21-30. Arthur’s Cousin; Jane’s Nephew. The head Butler at the Baron’s manor and betrothed to Baron’s daughter Edith. Unreasonably rude and condescending. Bad blood runs in his family. Abuses his aunt Jane and cousin Anna just because he can. The character is involved in multiple fight scenes (beating and getting beaten, lots of slapping around), a stunt coordinator will be on set to provide instructions and monitor cast members' safety. [George Wellesley] Male, age 40-60. Carl’s older brother, Arthur’s Uncle, Robert’s Father. Crude and haughty; prone to anger. A sleazy looking man, who treats his own brother like dirt. The character is involved in multiple fight scenes (beating and getting beaten, lots of slapping around), a stunt coordinator will be on set to provide instructions and monitor cast members' safety. [Laura Wellesley] Female, age 40-60. Jane’s sister in law, Robert’s Mother. Along with Jane, she works as a maid at the Barron’s manor. She is just as self-fish as her husband; in order to save her job, she allowed her son to place blame on her sister (Jane). Joins her husband and son in verbally abuses Jane and Anna. The character is involved in multiple fight scenes (beating and getting beaten, lots of slapping around), a stunt coordinator will be on set to provide instructions and monitor cast members' safety. Talent also should be comfortable with SFX make-up (blood and bruises). Supporting. Minor Supporting. $250/day.

[Edith Kelley] Female, age 21-30. The niece of Lord Benjamin, Baron of Stamford. A woman who is both beautiful and fashionable, but with personality comparable to a cold-hearted snake (look into her eyes~ uh-oh… She's been tellin' lies~). Betrothed to Robert Wellesley. The sense of entitlement and audacity of how she treats ‘poor’ people will boil a lot of people’s blood. Arthur’s parents like trash. The character is involved in multiple fight scenes (beating and getting beaten, and part of best slap feast scenes in the story), a stunt coordinator will be on set to provide instructions and monitor cast members' safety. [John Moore] Male, age 21-35. Was betrothed to Anna Wellesley but broke off the engagement after meeting Adela. A boot licker; kiss-up to Arthur after learning his is the Duke. Manipulative, and persuasive; he tried to get back to Anna, but got rejected with a big slap on the face. The character is involved in multiple fight scenes (beating and getting beaten, lots of slapping around), a stunt coordinator will be on set to provide instructions and monitor cast members' safety. [Lisa Moore] Female, age 40-60. The boot licker’s mum. Periodt. It is not hard to see that she and Jason Moore are related. Lacks moral. Delusional. Classy on the outside, trashy on the inside. The character is involved in multiple fight scenes (beating and getting beaten, lots of slapping around), a stunt coordinator will be on set to provide instructions and monitor cast members' safety. [Young Arthur] Male, Age 7-13. Curious and upbeat, Young Arthur lives with his family out in the countryside. One day out at farmer's market with his sister, he was kidnapped by the Barron's guard to be trained to become a soldier. The character does involve running & struggling scenes; a stunt coordinator will be on to provide instruction and monitor all cast members’ safety. No dangerous situation. Day Player. [Young Anna] Female, age 7-13. Gentle and soft spoken. After noticing her brother is missing, she panics and informs her mother. The character involves running. No dangerous situation. Day player. [Crowley] Male, age 35-50. Benjamin Bard’s house steward; in charge of managing Baron’s servants. With the good intention to please the Barron, he beats Anna into submission, and wrap her up as a ‘gift’ to present to the Duke. The character is involved in multiple fight scenes (beating and getting beaten, lots of slapping around), a stunt coordinator will be on set to provide instructions and monitor cast members' safety. [Adela] Female, age 18-30. Lord Benjamin’s daughter. Deep in love with John Moore; willing to toss her moral and self-respect just to marry him. A delulu who is lawless and arrogant. [King Ceolwulf II] Male, age 40-60. The King of Kingdom of Mercia, who highly favors Arthur and loves him like his own son. It’s a shame that the only good character in the story only has 30 seconds of screen time. It’s not about how big the role is, rather how much impact the smaller character can have. Fortunately, the character is not involved in any beating scenes. Day Player. $138.24/ 8hr day.

New York Casting - Proscenium Theatre Festival is now casting for four developmental readings that will be presented during Origins Theatre Festival October 12th-13th. Head to the link for all the information. Feel free to email [email protected] with any questions or inquiries!

We are casting various roles but giving special attention to the following roles:

• JEOLY/ZORA: Filipino. They/Them. Early 20’s. A very fluid person. Trying to be brave in a new world. /Passionate and persistent. Searching for something that has been lost.

• NANAY: Filipina. She/They. Middle Aged. Full of a thousand stories.

• Alex: 20-23 years old, Black Male/nonbinary. Zodiac: Ta**us. They are more put together, wear tight clothes, always paired with a jean jacket. Photography major.

• Roberta - Black. Female. Mid 30’s. Almost Six Years Sober and struggling with her sobriety. Very self-centered and sometimes unaware of it. Still struggling to process a traumatic event from six years ago that flipped her world upside down. Married to Chris.

• Chris - Black, Indigenous, or Hispanic. Male. Mid 30’s. Four Years Sober. Comes from money. Has gone to many rehabs to get sober. On the straight and narrow now. Very protective of his wife Roberta.

Los Angeles Casting Short Film “Candy or Movie”
The story sets in 1970s China, where a little girl must decide on what to do with the money she found; should she use it to satisfy her desire for her sweet tooth? Or buy a ticket to watch her favorite movie? Or following her mother’s teaching, return the money to its lawful owner.
Production is targeting to film October 9, 2024, through October 14, 2024 in Los Angeles Area.
Talent Compensation is $18.75 per hour (approx. 6-8 hours day)
The film is under SAG-AFTRA Short Film Agreement, accepting both Union and Non-Union submissions.

Hello everyone, I’m currently casting a Non-Union Independent Narrative Feature "Ephemera" - the production films in Shanghai China, mid-late August 2024 (10-14 days). The production is looking for Asian Female talents (preferably Q***r identifying) who speaks Mandarin Chinese to fill the leading role(s) I the film.
Talent Compensation: $250 USD per filming day; Travel, Transportation, Lodging will be provided by production.
The only requirements are the performer must be able to speak Mandarin Chinese (as it is a Chinese film) and have a valid Passport to travel to China if cast. Pretty much we are looking for talents from anywhere in the world, as long as the person is able to submit a self-tape and is able to travel. (or local in China, even better).

Synopsis: Post-pandemic, present-day Shanghai. Asher participates in a hip-hop lesson in a dance studio situated on a busy street. She can’t stop glancing at the dance teacher. Following the class, Asher musters the courage to ask Tori out, disclosing that it's her final evening in Shanghai before leaving for Los Angeles. To her delight, Tori accepts. They wander in the historic French Concession as dusk falls - a blend of palpable anticipation and subtle awkwardness. Conversations flow freely, encompassing their experiences, families, and personal histories. However, beneath their apparent compatibility lies a growing awareness of cultural and personal disparities.

Seeking:

Asher (she/they): Female, early 30s, American-born Chinese, used to work as a corporate UI/UX designer in Los Angeles. Having split their lifetime in LA and Shanghai, Asher has recently quit the designer job to return to Shanghai. This decision was long overdue, partly due to the need for a fresh start and partly because Dad has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's. "The best way to remember is to live in the moment." Embracing their Shanghai moment, Asher discovers a passion for hip-hop dancing and falls in love - with both the dance form and dance teacher Tori. The character identifies as Q***r. WE’RE BACK! Janet Yang Productions and CAPE are thrilled to announce that submissions are now open for Year 3 of the Julia S. Gouw Short Film Challenge for API Women and Non-Binary Filmmakers! 4 filmmakers will be selected to receive $25,000 production grants to complete their short films, mentorship and networking opportunities provided by CAPE, Janet Yang, and Julia S. Gouw, and more resources than ever to support and accelerate their careers!

We began this challenge because for far too long, Hollywood has been an insular, exclusive club...and somewhat of a “boys’ club” at that. But times are changing. Our very first year, the shorts screened at festivals such as Sundance and SXSW, as well as major Asian and Pacific Islander film festivals such as CAAM and LAAPFF. We wrapped Year 2 just last month, when our four grant winners Dorothy Xiao, Kristy Choi, Rippin Sindher, and Shruti Parekh hosted a tremendous screening of their shorts at AMC Theatres!

Hello there, I'm currently casting "Latent Space" a Calvin University (MI) Student Film under SAG-AFTRA Micro Budget Agreement. Accepting both Union and Non-Union submissions. The production films in Grand Rapids, Michigan from March 14-16, 2024. The production is opening the casting call for talents within Michigan and outside of Michigan (within the United States). Talent compensation is $250 per filming day (3 filming days total); for talent outside of Michigan, the production offers $60 per-diem on travel day (March 13, March 17), in addition to provide/cover Flight, Transportation, and Lodging for the duration of the production.

Storyline:
In his early 80’s, a retired ceramics teacher takes up a job opportunity, in China, teaching via an artificially intelligent version of himself. Toward the end of a semester defined by his absence, Aaron learns that one of his students has been falling behind. The student, Jin Lì, has become increasingly despondent in relation to Aaron’s AI. Through tense interactions, Aaron attempts to break through this artificial barrier to connect with Jin.

Seeking Mandarin Speaking Actor to portray:
-[JIN] Asian Male, age 17-30. A College student at the Chinese International School. When he was little, Jin's parents took him to visit the only surviving Míng Dynasty kiln in Jingdezhen. Ever since then, he has had a fascination with ceramics. For a long time, he was not strong enough to turn clay on a pottery wheel. Now in college, he has found himself struggling to connect with the art form. His teacher, Aaron Clark, is an American who has elected to teach his class via an artificially intelligent version of himself. In this distant future, AI has become commonplace in Chinese classrooms. Up until this point, Jin has only had to deal with AI instructors in classes with subjects he hasn't cared about. Without the genuine connection of a mentor, Jin feels like his work is under-appreciated and he is undervalued as a student. He has become rebellious and despondent in relation to his artificial instructor. Despite Aaron having decided to hold his final critique sessions personally, one-on-one, Jin is uninterested in meeting with him. He decides to fight fire with fire. Jin sends an artificial version of himself to conduct his critique. Furthermore, he programs it to be as disrespectful and despondent as he feels. This kicks off the conflict we follow throughout the film. Talent must speak fluent Mandarin Chinese, please note fluency in your submission. Supporting.
