STITCHING IS BACK! 😂😂 I’m sure there’s more important albums that I didn’t mention, but I didn’t think this through at all I just kind of freestyle it and improvised my list so I reserve some leverage on changes in the future, but after the top of the dome, this is my two selections on Best album and more important album. Joe & Jada
To Pimp a Butterfly •
I know the goofy fans will think this is glazing, but to me to pimp a butterfly is an album that brought forefront a conversation about society when we were in a place where that conversation was either not being had or being completely ignored. If you look at where the game is today, having artist The Homegirl Rapsody 💋 BEN come out on a major way and a major stages, calling out government and social depreciation from the ones in power. I can’t help but to think that that was the seed that planted the trees we’ve been from today. Vince Staples . And what makes it even crazier is. came before Covid George Floyd before the riots and he still stepped on that ledge and jumped. That’s what leaders do. Kendrick Lamar
Stanlonia • I know this is probably a wild card from my freestyle list but thinking about it. The idea that not only a southern rapper but a lyrical rapper could come out and make different music that wasn’t what we were used to that was original that sounded different that was experimental and also have an image to match. I feel gave way for artist to explore the limits of their own creativity and image that’s not to say you were going to be fake, but you were going to be creative. This album also gave us way to the double disc André Lauren Benjamin Big Boy
illMatic •
I started listening to Nas after this album but revisiting it is what I would consider the most accurate depiction, both sonically and aesthetically to what the essence of hip-hop was and the bridge to where it is today or would it be became at least. He also opened the window for someone who wasn’t in the game to speak on the game.
To be continued…
Also I know.
