In the year 753 BCE, legend tells of two brothers—Romulus and Remus—born of a mortal woman and the god Mars. Abandoned as infants, they were set adrift on the River Tiber… but fate had other plans.

A she-wolf, wild yet nurturing, found the helpless twins. In her den, beneath the shade of the Palatine Hill, she nursed them until a shepherd took them in. The brothers grew strong, bold, and destined for greatness.

When they came of age, Romulus and Remus decided to build a city on the very ground where they had been saved. But a quarrel arose—who would rule? The dispute turned deadly. Romulus struck down his brother… and became the sole founder of Rome.

Thus, in 753 BCE, Rome began—not in peace, but in blood… and in the shadow of myth.

They believe conquest is destiny. But unseen in the jungle are storm clouds, silent watchers, and a fate far different from the one they imagine.

Iroquois Confederacy – North America’s First Democracy

Who Were They?
A powerful alliance of six Native American tribes (Mohawk, Oneida, Onondaga, Cayuga, Seneca, and later Tuscarora) in the Northeast, united under the Great Law of Peace (est. ~1142–1450 CE).

Key Facts:
- Oldest Living Democracy: Their constitution inspired parts of the U.S. government (debated, but Franklin/Jefferson referenced it).
- Government Structure:
- 50 hereditary chiefs (clan mothers chose/replaced them).
- Consensus-based decisions (no majority rule—every tribe had veto power).
- Women’s Power:Clan mothers controlled land, leadership, and diplomacy.

Legacy:
- Survived colonialism and still exists today.
- Proved peaceful unity was possible without a monarchy.

Fun Fact: Their symbol—the Hiawatha Belt—shows the five original nations linked together.
