We are SO happy to add Bri Johnson to the HG Literary team. We've known and admired her for many years--now we are excited to work with her!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Agent Brianne Johnson Joins HG Literary

New York, May19, 2021

Literary Agent Brianne Johnson has joined HG Literary, bringing her best-selling list of authors including Wesley King (OCDaniel, The Wizenard series), Joya Goffney, (Excuse Me While I Ugly Cry), Kate Scelsa (Fans of the Impossible Life) Edgar-nominated Greg Howard (The Whispers), Heather Fawcett (Even the Darkest Stars) and Camilla Bruce (You Let Me In).

“I am deeply grateful for my fourteen years at Writers House, which was my first “career home” after half a decade spent working at independent bookstores. I’ve long admired the work that Josh, Carrie, and the entire HG Lit team has been doing for years. This move feels very right for me, and for my clients. I am absolutely thrilled,” said Johnson, who had been with Writers House since 2007.

“Bri’s impeccable taste, fantastic list, and strength in the YA market really round out our Children’s division,” said HGL Partner Carrie Hannigan. “We are delighted to welcome her to HG Literary.”

HG Literary, led by partners Carrie Hannigan and Josh Getzler, represents a broad range of adult and children’s book authors, including Brit Bennett (The Vanishing Half), Vashti Harrison (Little Leaders), S.A. Cosby (Blacktop Wasteland), Chris Grabenstein (Mr. Lemoncello’s Library), and Rev. Al Sharpton (Rise Up).

So excited for our colleague, the amazing Ellen Goff, whose non day-job is writing cool goth-y Southern YA fiction. Now she’s repped by the terrific Tricia Lawrence at the Erin Murphy Agency, and we are SO psyched to see what happens next!

EMLA is a top U.S. agency representing authors of books for children (babies through teens). Closed to unsolicited queries and submissions.

Very disappointed to announce that HG Literary won’t be attending next week’s London Book Fair. The combination of health risks to our attendees from Coronavirus and the number of co-agents and publishers not attending made us determine that we’d be better served staying home. We look forward to seeing everyone in Frankfurt in October (and on the children’s book side, in Bologna in May, assuming it takes place).

In the meantime, stay healthy and wash your hands!!!

Huge Happy to Karen Odden on the release of A Trace of Deceit. Karen's third Victorian novel (and second with HarperCollins), A Trace of Deceit is a story of art, loyalty, murder, a little flirtation, and London. It's wonderful, as are all the books Karen writes--and if you want to immerse yourself in another time and another place over the Holidays, pick up A Trace of Deceit. Congratulations, Karen!!!
