We are thrilled to announce that Carrie Hannigan and Josh Getzler are now co-representing the amazing Chris Grabenstein, multiple New York Times Bestselling author of the Mr. Lemoncello's Library Series, Shine, and the Treasure Hunters and Max Einstein books with James Patterson. Very, very happy to welcome Chris into the HG Lit family!

And right off the bat, we have a promotion. If you (or your kid(s)) have nothing going on this Thursday, March 26, between 2 and 3 PM, Chris will be featured in a "Facebook Live" event. Come join and hang out with Chris!

03/13/2020

To our clients, colleagues, and friends:

As of this Monday, March 16, HG Literary will be moving to a virtual office, with our agents working from home as a precautionary measure until further notice.

Please bear with us if things are a bit out of sorts for a little while, as we adjust to working from home and we put a few systems in place. But we are all healthy and working, and will be performing all of our usual jobs. Just, you know, in sweats.

Let’s hope this pandemic comes under control quickly, and with as little further disruption and illness as possible. We are in some uncharted territory here, and we really appreciate everyone’s patience and good will.

Now wash your hands!!!

Carrie Hannigan, Josh Getzler, and everyone at HG Literary.

03/03/2020

Very disappointed to announce that HG Literary won’t be attending next week’s London Book Fair. The combination of health risks to our attendees from Coronavirus and the number of co-agents and publishers not attending made us determine that we’d be better served staying home. We look forward to seeing everyone in Frankfurt in October (and on the children’s book side, in Bologna in May, assuming it takes place).

In the meantime, stay healthy and wash your hands!!!

Huge Happy #PublicationDay to Karen Odden on the release of A Trace of Deceit. Karen's third Victorian novel (and second with HarperCollins), A Trace of Deceit is a story of art, loyalty, murder, a little flirtation, and London. It's wonderful, as are all the books Karen writes--and if you want to immerse yourself in another time and another place over the Holidays, pick up A Trace of Deceit. Congratulations, Karen!!!

My Darkest Prayer

Welcome to the #HSG family to Shawn A. Cosby, Thuglit contributor, author of the upcoming novel "My Darkest Prayer" (Intrigue Publishing, Jan 1), and a man who performed the most polite, gentle, devastating put-down of an anti-immigrant racist we've ever seen, during a Bouchercon panel last month. We've read 50 pages of Shawn's next book, and...well...just remember "Plymouth Duster" and "Drag Race."

"[Sasha is] a sympathetic heroine, and readers will gladly follow her fascinating, disturbing story to its transcendent conclusion. Hersey’s translation is plain and straightforward, a wise choice that enhances the deep strangeness of this trippy, vivid novel."

A STARRED review for The Swing of Things from Booklist: "(T)he novel offers complex and vividly realized characters and a thought-provoking portrayal of where taking relationships for granted can lead. Excellent domestic drama, with elements of psychological suspense that evoke Gone Girl."

A third starred review for Anne Tyler's CLOCK DANCE, out July 10 from Alfred A. Knopf:

"Pulitzer Prize winner Tyler does not disappoint. Her characters are distinctly drawn and their stories layered like a Venn diagram....The result is a compelling look at the need for relevance, being offered a second chance, and deciding whether to take it. VERDICT: Highly recommended." --Library Journal⭐

We all have causes we deeply believe in, that we're truly passionate about, and we support them to the best of our abilities. On Thursday night, October 26, at 7:00 PM at the charming 15th STREET GALLERY I'm presenting an entertaining evening of music and mystery, perfect for the Halloween season. All the money we raise will go to the student scholarship fund of the Citizens Climate Lobby - Salt Lake City. These scholarships will enable students to go to regional CCL conferences and the national annual conference in Washington, DC, where they will learn how to participate in our democratic process in a positive, productive, respectful way, and to meet with our members of Congress. The event on the 26th will be A TOTALLY FUN NIGHT! I'll be talking about how music with diabolical stories inspired me to write murder mysteries, including my latest--Spring Break ("a joy to read"), and my Devil's Trill audiobook ("combining the deductive reasoning of Sherlock Holmes with the rhetorical finesse of Don Rickles")--and I'll be playing music from the books, including the "Devil's Trill" sonata, "Danse Macabre," and "Spring" from Vivaldi's Four Seasons. The evening will be topped off by a delicious, seasonally inspired reception provided by the Avenues Bistro on Third. The recommended donation for all of this is only $40 for adults and $25 for students. In addition, we'll be partnering with The King's English Bookshop and will be making a donation to the scholarship fund with every book sold that evening. What better way to help such a worthwhile cause! For more details, please call 801-671-0351 or email [email protected]. I look forward to seeing you there on the 26th for a fun night and to support a great cause. Please bring your friends and family! And if you decide to wear a Halloween costume....well, we won't stop you. PS If you absolutely can't make it to the event, you can still help out. Until Thanksgiving $5.00 will be donated to the scholarship fund for EVERY download of the critically acclaimed Devil's Trill audiobook: http://www.alisonlarkinpresents.com/product/devils-trill/
