Studied at University of California, Berkeley (Graduated 2019)2h

My parents were married for 55 years. One morning, my mom was going downstairs to make dad breakfast, she had a heart attack and fell. My father picked her up as best he could and almost dragged her into the truck. At full speed, without respecting traffic lights, he drove her to the hospital.

When he arrived, unfortunately, she was no longer with us.

During the funeral, my father did not speak.

His gaze was lost. He hardly cried.

That night, his children joined him. In an

atmosphere of pain and nostalgia, we remembered beautiful anecdotes and he asked my brother, a theologian, to tell him where Mom would be at that moment. My brother began to talk about life after death, and guesses as to how and where she would be.

My father listened carefully. Suddenly he asked us to take him to the cemetery.

Dad! we replied, "it is 11 at night, we can't go to the cemetery right now!"

He raised his voice, and with a glazed look he said:

"Don't argue with me, please don't argue with the man who just lost his wife of 55 years."

There was a moment of respectful silence, we didn't argue anymore. We went to the cemetery, we asked the night watchman for permission. With a flashlight, we reached the tomb. My father caressed her, prayed, and told his children, who watched the scene moved:

"It was 55 years... you know? No one can talk about true love if they have no idea what it's like to share life with a woman."

He paused and wiped his face. "She and I, we were together in that crisis. I changed jobs ..." he continued. "We packed up when we sold the house and moved out of town. We shared the joy of seeing our children finish their careers, we mourned the departure of loved ones side by side, we prayed together in the waiting room of some hospitals, we support each other in pain, we hug each Christmas, and we forgive our mistakes...

Children, now it is gone, and I'm happy, do you know why?

Because she left before me. She didn't have to go through the agony and pain of burying me, of being left alone after my departure. I will be the one to go through that, and I thank God. I love her so much that I wouldn't have liked her to suffer..."

When my father finished speaking, my brothers and I had tears streaming down our faces. We hugged him, and he comforted us, "It's okay, we can go home, it's been a good day."

That night I understood what true love is; It is far from romanticism, it does not have much to do with eroticism, or with s*x, rather it is linked to work, to complement, to care and, above all, to the true love that two really committed people profess".

Peace in your hearts.

What are some examples of badass people?
Meet MARIANNE BACHMEIER, Germany’s ā€˜Revenge Mother’ Who Shot Her Child’s Killer In The Middle Of His Trial

Marianne Bachmeier, a struggling single mother and she lived with her child, Anna. Anna, described as a ā€œhappy, open-minded child,ā€ met a horrifying end on May 5, 1980.

After an argument with her mother, the seven-year-old skipped school and ended up in the hands of Klaus Grabowski, a 35-year-old local butcher with a criminal record involving child molestation. Grabowski confessed to Anna’s murder but denied abusing her. His bizarre claim was that Anna tried to blackmail him. According to Grabowski, she threatened to reveal his molestation if he didn’t give her money

During Grabowski’s trial, His defense attorneys argued that Grabowski’s actions were influenced by a hormonal imbalance resulting from voluntary castration years earlier.

On the third day of the trial, Marianne pulled a .22-caliber Beretta pistol from her purse and cold bloodedly fired eight shots, six of which hit Grabowski, killing him on the courtroom floor.

During her own trial for murder, Marianne testified that she shot Grabowski in a dream and saw visions of her daughter Anna in the courtroom. Her response to a handwriting sample request was, ā€œI did it for you, Anna.ā€ The court sentenced her to six years in prison in 1983

Marianne’s desperate act remains a haunting chapter in the pursuit of justice and a testament to a mother’s unwavering love for her child. šŸ’”šŸŒ¹šŸ„€

What is a good example of humanity for you?
ā€œGrandson Surprises Grandpa by Restoring 1954 Pickup Sitting Broken for 40 Years: ā€˜I never thought I’d live to see that’

credit – Blake Kincheloe CC 3.0. ND-SA

A son recently surprised his grandfather by repairing his 70-year-old pickup truck to a fully functioning automobile, and the video will bring a tear to your eye.

ā€œ50 dollars and a hogā€ is what Richard Kincheloe’s mother paid for a red, 1954 International Harvester pickup truck, which Richard, now a grandfather, drove around for years until it broke down.

His grandson Blake Kincheloe, grew up thinking of the International as his own little truck, even giving it the nickname ā€œCannonballā€, however it has served as a multi-ton paperweight and spider hotel, sitting broken and idle on Richard’s property.

Coming of age, Blake contemplated what a swell idea it would be to have the old truck up and running again.

Taking it into C&J’s Classic Cars, he first planned for nothing more than a set of modern brakes, but soon a full restoration was ongoing, adding parts all over the car from brake lights, which the original didn’t have, to a bathroom door latch because the door handle mechanism was unsalvageable.

Then came the big day, when Blake and his father would drive Cannonball down Richard’s driveway for the first time in 45 years.

ā€œWhat’s that pappa?ā€ a female voice can be heard asking Richard in a video made by Blake and other family/friends as the truck approached. ā€œWell, I’ll be danged!ā€ he exclaimed.

As for his priceless response, it’s best to listen for yourself (NOTE: Some word choices may not be for children.)ā€

Brit here, with a great passion for American food. These are my absolute favourite dishes and I think they are as typical American, as they can be. And no, the burger, the hot dog and the apple pie, didn’t make that list.
