"Oh, so your kid plays golf? Must be nice having money to burn…"
That’s what people love to say.
Because obviously, the only reason a kid could be on a golf course is if Mommy and Daddy are rolling in cash, right?
Sure.
It’s definitely not because golf teaches patience, focus, independence, and how to actually handle failure without crying about it. Nope. It’s just a rich kid flex.
Meanwhile, your kid’s at home glued to an iPad, screaming into a headset while playing Fortnite with strangers they’ll never meet. But hey at least that’s “normal,” right?
On the course, golf kids aren’t babysat by a coach 24/7. They’re making decisions, fixing mistakes, talking to grown-ups, and learning how to carry themselves like actual adults.
And yes, they’re overhearing conversations about business, discipline, and life that might just shape their future.
But you’re right who needs that when TikTok dances are free?
Here’s the reality: golf isn’t about showing off. It’s about putting a kid in a place where distractions disappear, pressure is real, and the only thing between them and the hole is their own mindset.
You can call it “elitist” if it makes you feel better.
Or you can admit that maybe just maybe the kids learning golf today are getting skills your kid’s gonna wish they had later.
