HEARTBREAKING: Horrible situtation right now in Western Alaska after the remnants of Typhoon brought wind gusts over 100 mph and at least 6 - 7 feet of surge to the region. Many homes were destroyed or floated off their foundations, with over 1,500 residents across multiple villages currently displaced. Entire villages have been isolated as search teams have rescued at least 51 people. Kipnuk and Kwigillingok were two of the communites that were hit the hardest in southwestern , roughly 500 miles away from Anchorage. I'll continue to keep you updated with the latest.

Matt Devitt if it wasn’t for you or your brother meteorologists, most wouldn’t have known about the devastation that occurred in Alaska. Thank you for posting this so others know.

Aren’t typhoons like hurricanes in the sense they steam off of warm waters to fuel the systems. Very weird to hear of typhoons hitting Alaska of all places. Sending positive vibes for them.

The only part about this I've never seen anything on the news about this I'm only seeing it on the internet.
I live in Michigan and we posted this and people said they didn't hear it on the news and I haven't heard on the news either. it's terrible this should be on the news just like anything else happens
