I was quoted $3,800 to fix this ceiling... that is absolute highway robbery It’s literally just 10 little squares of drywall. I told the guy I'd give him $250 cash and he walked out? These tradesmen are so greedy trying to retire off one job. I'll just tape some paper over it..,.

Okay all you DIYs out there... this is our basement toilet and that is all calcium deposit I can't even get it off with a razor blade so what do you recommend?

After spending thousands of dollars to remedy a problem with our 100 year old electicity with pipes embedded in our 6 inch concrete floor, this eyesore is what we are left with. The electrician claimed our stucco & masonry siding coupled with the floor radiator heating prevented them from making the outlets flush.

Any suggestions or inspiration pix for how to hide this Frankenstein looking solution in my vintage living room? Wainscoting??

Update: This is one of five outlets added around the room. There isn’t enough furniture to hide them all. Thanks for the many suggestions and sorry for those hating the baseboard radiator heat.

Some really cool, funky wallpaper I found while scraping and restoring baseboards, doors, door casings, etc in my mom’s bedroom. Our house was built in 1925. This wallpaper screams 1970’s or 1980’s. There were 3 different wallpapers total and then at some point someone just painted over them. 😆
