Japan’s new plastic from RIKEN and University of Tokyo dissolves in seawater in hours and breaks down in soil in 10 days, boosting soil health with nutrients like phosphorus and nitrogen! It’s as strong as regular plastic but leaves no harmful microplastics. A big step toward ending plastic pollution and supporting sustainable farming!

Many parents share photos and videos of their children on social media: birth announcements, making (an adorable) mess at the dinner table, milestones like a first step.

But there are potential dangers to constantly posting about your child online, says Leah Plunkett, a faculty member at Harvard Law School who specializes in children, family law and technology. In Plunkett’s 2019 book “Sharenthood: Why We Should Think Before We Talk About Our Kids Online,” she explains how adults can put children’s privacy and personal data at risk.

This phenomenon is called “sharenting,” says Plunkett. Legal scholars in her field use the term — a portmanteau of “sharing” and “parenting” — to describe “all the ways that parents, aunts, uncles, teachers, coaches and other trusted adults in a kiddo’s life transmit children’s private information digitally.” It can make kids vulnerable to identity theft and harassment. And as they grow older, it may undercut their ability to tell their own story.

Click the link in our bio for more on the different harms of oversharing, how to post information about your kid safely and how to talk to loved ones about your limits.

While the corporate wellness industry expected to be worth $85 billion by 2030, there’s also evidence that the effectiveness of well-being programs is low, as individual interventions like wellness apps do not address the broader workplace culture. Just as we outgrow relationships in real life, it’s natural to outgrow digital connections. Your online space should reflect your evolving self, not a museum of past versions you’ve left behind.⁣

Think of your feed as a curated art gallery in your pocket. Each post is a piece of art that influences your mood, shapes your thoughts, and colours your perspective. If you find yourself constantly scrolling past certain exhibits that leave you feeling drained, envious, or just plain “meh,” it’s time to reconsider their place in your gallery. ⁣

Unfollowing isn’t about being mean or closing yourself off. It’s about recognizing that your attention is a precious resource, and you get to choose how to invest it. Just as you’d change the channel on a TV show that no longer entertains you, you can adjust your social media dial to tune into content that truly resonates.⁣

Remember, the accounts you follow create an algorithm of emotions in your daily life, inviting experiences that resonate on a similar frequency. Each interaction trains this algorithm, influencing what pops up in your feed and, ultimately, your state of mind. By curating your digital space with intention, you’re essentially programming your experiential reality.⁣

Beware of the trap of digital voyeurism. If you use secret accounts to keep tabs on people you dislike, you’re setting up camp in a field of negativity. This only keeps you tethered to lower vibrations, stunting your own growth.⁣

Also, remember that engagement is a two-way street. If someone never reciprocates your digital energy, stepping back is OK. You wouldn’t keep watering a fake plant, waiting for it to grow – so don’t feel obligated to keep following accounts where the connection feels false or that adds no value to your life.⁣

Ultimately, the goal is to cultivate a digital space that nurtures growth and happiness. While reaching a state where others’ actions don’t impact your well-being is ideal, setting boundaries in your online world is a crucial step in your evolution.⁣
