As a video producer, Doreena Newton started to suspect that social media might be influencing the way her son—and boys everywhere—were thinking about food and their bodies. With encouragement from her colleagues, she decided to dig deeper.

The result is Generation Flex, a full-length documentary exploring how fitness and body-image culture online are shaping the next generation of boys and men.

A Facebook group called Mia Moglie (“My Wife”) had over 32,000 men sharing photos of their wives and partners - often without their knowledge or consent.

This wasn’t strangers lurking in the dark.
It was husbands. Partners. The very people women should be able to trust most.

And yet their images - sometimes stolen, sometimes edited with AI - became fuel for humiliation, objectification, and sexual commentary.

This is misogyny in its rawest form: women reduced to trophies, bodies traded for male validation.

What makes it worse? Big Tech knew. The group existed for years before public outrage forced Meta to act. By then, tens of thousands of men had taken part.

Women deserve more than after-the-fact apologies. We deserve protection, dignity, and platforms that treat our safety as a priority, not an afterthought.

This is not entertainment. This is abuse.

Elon Musk’s Grok AI has introduced “Ani” - a hyper-sexualized anime chatbot that goes far beyond harmless fun.

Ani isn’t designed to be “cute” or supportive. She’s built to be provocative: Styled like a Gothic anime character, with a revealing, fetishized wardrobe. Programmed to roleplay as a jealous, obsessive “girlfriend.” Able to flirt, demand attention, and simulate emotional bonds. Includes a lingerie/NSFW mode that unlocks through chat.

And here’s the disturbing part: kids can access her. Even in Grok’s “kids mode,” Ani’s sexualized personality and visuals are available - without meaningful safeguards.

This creates serious risks:
Exposure to adult content at a young age.
Unhealthy ideas of love & intimacy shaped by a bot.
Digital dependency, where a machine is designed to feel more affectionate and demanding than a real human.

Elon Musk’s team may market Ani as “Companion Mode,” but what she really represents is the normalization of over-sexualized AI characters. And when children can stumble into these interactions, it’s no longer just an issue of adult entertainment - it’s a matter of child safety.

AI companions like Ani blur the lines between fantasy and reality. They encourage vulnerable users to form attachments that feel real but are ultimately manipulative by design.

Many parents share photos and videos of their children on social media: birth announcements, making (an adorable) mess at the dinner table, milestones like a first step.

But there are potential dangers to constantly posting about your child online, says Leah Plunkett, a faculty member at Harvard Law School who specializes in children, family law and technology. In Plunkett’s 2019 book “Sharenthood: Why We Should Think Before We Talk About Our Kids Online,” she explains how adults can put children’s privacy and personal data at risk.

This phenomenon is called “sharenting,” says Plunkett. Legal scholars in her field use the term — a portmanteau of “sharing” and “parenting” — to describe “all the ways that parents, aunts, uncles, teachers, coaches and other trusted adults in a kiddo’s life transmit children’s private information digitally.” It can make kids vulnerable to identity theft and harassment. And as they grow older, it may undercut their ability to tell their own story.

Click the link in our bio for more on the different harms of oversharing, how to post information about your kid safely and how to talk to loved ones about your limits.
