Did you know?
🧠The term encephalocele derived from the Greek for hernia of the brain. It is used to describe a congenital protrusion of intracranial contents beyond the normal confines of the skull.

These malformations are relatively rare (worldwide incidence: ca. 1 per 5,000 live births).
But he true incidence is difficult to determine, as severe forms of this malformation will result in spontaneous abortion during pregnancy.

Encephaloceles can be divided into two broad categories: those related to the cranial vault and those related to the cranial bas.

Dive deeper into the chapter and learn more about:

At 37, she didn’t wait for permission—she built her own path.
In a world where expectations can quietly define a woman’s limits, she chose discipline over doubt, purpose over pressure, and autonomy over approval.
From Sicily to the global scientific stage, her journey is not just about publications, awards, or titles—it’s about resilience, consistency, and the courage to think independently.
Because true leadership isn’t about occupying space—it’s about creating it for others.
She teaches, she leads, she mentors… and most importantly, she empowers.
This is what female leadership looks like.
This is ❤️
