After an incredible 12.5 years of dedicated leadership, Peter Siersema will be stepping down as Editor-in-Chief of Endoscopy at the end of 2025.
We extend our deepest gratitude to Peter for his unwavering commitment, visionary guidance, and tireless work. Under his stewardship, Endoscopy has flourished:
📈 The Impact Factor rose from 5.196 in 2013 to an impressive 12.8 in 2024,

Peter’s legacy is one of excellence, innovation, and community-building in the GI endoscopy field. Thank you, Peter, for everything you’ve done to elevate Endoscopy and support researchers worldwide.
As of January 2026, we are thrilled to welcome Jacques Bergman as the new Editor-in-Chief.
Jacques is Professor of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy at Amsterdam UMC and heads a renowned research team. He is a leading figure in interventional endoscopy, metabolic endoscopic interventions, early upper GI neoplasia and the use of artificial intelligence in endoscopic imaging – deeply committed to innovation and clinical excellence.
