Sagittal craniosynostosis is a congenital condition involving premature closure of the sagittal suture, producing an abnormally elongated skull called scaphocephaly.
As the brain expands, the normal lambdoid and coronal sutures will permit growth of the skull in the anteroposterior axis, but the skull will not grow perpendicular to the fused sagittal suture. This will result in abnormal longitudinal development of the anteroposterior diameter, and transverse narrowing of the skull. 🧠
The etiology of nonsyndromic sagittal craniosynostosis is unknown; the condition is sporadic in most instances.
It is the most common form of single-suture craniosynostosis. It occurs in ~1 in 1,000 newborns, and males are affected more frequently than females.

Facial nerve injury is a feared complication when performing facial aesthetic and reconstructive procedures.
While most facial nerve branches are protected, as they are situated deep to the deep fascia as they traverse the cheek, there are specific regions of the cheek where facial nerve branches are superficially positioned and more prone to injury.
These Danger Zones are located at regions of transition between facial fat compartments and are characterized by nerve branches situated in the sub-SMAS plane between superficial and deep fascia.
Recognition of the plane of dissection when dissecting within Danger Zones remains a key element in preventing inadvertent motor branch injury.
(The Illustration shows an overview of the relative depth of nerve branches in the cheek.)

The anatomy of the surface of the brain is complex, highly variable, and difficult to identify intraoperatively.
Neurosurgeons often expose only a limited part of the cortex, which, in addition, is covered by the arachnoidal membrane and cortical vessels that cross gyri and small sulci. Thus, reliably recognizing the gyri and sulci of the brain surface is often not possible. Image guidance and brain mapping help with intraoperative orientation.

Since its first application for obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) in 1999, deep brain stimulation (DBS) has emerged as a viable option of treatment for patients with severe and refractory forms of this disorder.
The evidence base for this therapy ranges from several open-label studies to a few randomized, double-blind, sham-controlled trials.
❗These studies have reported response rates in the range of 50 to 80%, which is particularly notable given the highly severe and refractory nature of these patients’ symptoms. Multicenter trials demonstrate that this therapy can be effectively standardized and adopted for general use.

The impact of Chlamydia trachomatis (CT) infection on female's fertility is not completely established yet, since the level of evidence associating these factors is still weak. Hence, the goal of the present review is to contribute to a better elucidation of this matter. The electronic database chosen was the Medline/PubMed, with the last survey on May 11, 2021. This systematic review corroborates the hypothesis that CT infection potentiates female infertility, as 76.47% of the included studies found a positive correlation between them. We conclude that there is an important association between CT infection and female infertility. Ergo, making CT screening part of the infertility investigation routine is relevant and has a reasonable justification.

Adult spinal deformity (ASD) is a broad term that refers to a wide spectrum of structural abnormalities of a mature spine. ASD encompass abnormalities in the coronal plane (scoliosis) as well as abnormalities in the sagittal plane.
The term “adult degenerative scoliosis” (ADS) (as distinguished from idiopathic juvenile scoliosis (IJS)) is often used interchangeably with ASD. Definition of adult degenerative scoliosis: spinal deformity with Cobb angle > 10° in a skeletally mature individual. ADS may be the result of childhood idiopathic scoliosis persisting into adulthood, or may be de novo.
