🚨 SNOW ALERT FOR NYC & TRI-STATE 🚨
Major snow is headed our way Friday night into Saturday, with up to around 5 inches possible in NYC and even higher totals across parts of the Tri-State 🌨️❄️
At this point, forecast models show up to 6 inches for New York City, Long Island, and central New Jersey, with higher amounts elsewhere, potentially upwards of 8 inches in the Hudson Valley and North Jersey, and even near a foot in higher elevations if the storm tracks just right.
Because we’ve had so little snow the last few winters, even 4 inches would be Central Park’s biggest snowfall since January 2022, almost four years ago, but the potential is there for more if this forecast holds.
📍 NYC
Snow is expected Friday night into early Saturday, with around 3 to 5 inches possible across the five boroughs. The heaviest snowfall is likely overnight, which could impact late-night travel and early Saturday plans.
📍 Long Island
Long Island is also in the zone, with 3 to 6 inches expected and the potential for slightly higher totals farther east. Roads could get slick fast, especially overnight.
📍 New Jersey
Northern and central New Jersey may see the highest totals in the region, with 4 to 8 inches possible in some areas. South Jersey likely sees lighter amounts, closer to 2 to 4 inches.
📍 Connecticut
Southwestern Connecticut, including Fairfield County, could see up to 6 inches, while central and eastern parts of the state are looking at 1 to 3 inches, depending on the storm track.
📍 Upstate New York
Upstate areas may see lighter additional snowfall, generally 1 to 4 inches, with higher totals possible in elevated regions. Areas already dealing with snow this week could see accumulations add up.
This system could slow holiday travel, make roads slick, and turn the weekend into a full winter scene 😬☃️
Stay safe, plan ahead, and bundle up 💙🧤🧣
