Benue South Senatorial Race 2027: Power, Choice, and the People’s Question
As we approach 2027, the battle for the Benue South (Zone C) Senatorial seat is no longer business as usual. This race is unfolding at a time when our communities are bleeding from insecurity, poverty, unemployment, and neglect. The big question is not who wants the seat—but who truly deserves the people’s mandate.
The incumbent Senator, Patrick Abba Moro, has declared interest in seeking a third term. He remains a familiar figure in Zone C politics and continues to enjoy strong grassroots support built over the years.
Stepping into the race is Honourable Francis Ottah Agbo, the immediate past member representing Ado, Okpokwu, and Ogbadibo Federal Constituency. He is widely known for creating job opportunities and empowering youths, a record that has earned him massive support among young people who are tired of waiting for tomorrow.
Also contesting is Honourable Joseph Ojobo, a former member of the Benue State House of Assembly, whose political journey and deep grassroots connection have secured him loyal supporters across communities.
Honourable Nelson Alapa, a one-time member representing Otukpo/Ohimini Federal Constituency, has equally joined the race, backed by supporters who still believe in his leadership and representation.
Honourable Daniel Onjeh is also in the contest, mobilizing his structure and supporters as he pushes his ambition forward.
Former Commissioner for Finance, Benue State, Honourable David Olofu, has declared his interest as well. With his administrative experience and growing league of supporters, he is positioning himself as a serious contender for the Zone C Senate seat.
Honourable Hon DrPrince, a former Chairman of Ogbadibo Local Government, is also in the race and commands the loyalty of his supporters at the grassroots.
Hon/Dr Patrick Ojechema Idoko is strongly in the Senate race and he is another strong contender and has his grassroots supporters on ground
Completing the list is Engineer Oloche Gabriel Agidani, who has also declared interest and is gaining support from those who believe professional competence and fresh ideas are needed in the Senate.
For now, these are the major contenders who have openly declared interest, though we know many more will join as the race intensifies.
But beyond names and ambitions, the real issue remains:
In the face of rising insecurity ravaging our communities, killings, displacement, and economic hardship, who do we entrust with our mandate in 2027?
This is not a time for sentiment.
This is not a time for recycled promises.
The people of Benue South must stay awake, speak out, and demand leadership with courage, capacity, and compassion. The mandate belongs to the people—and it must be given to those ready to defend lives, protect communities, and fight for a better future.
