We had our Christmas tree right in front of the stair case and now that it’s gone I need advice on what to put there. It feels so empty and boring. More info: We recently moved in and renovated so I haven’t quite finished decorating and to the right is the kitchen and the front door is just in front of the stairs. Any advice is appreciated !

I designed and built this from scratch for my 1950s tribute guest suite. Contains a 50" flat screen TV, 36" sound bar, and a record player with a vintage vinyl collection behind the door. I don't have a woodworking shop, so had to make due with a circular saw, a sander, wood glue, and carefully placed screws. Except for the door, it's make from a single sheet of plywood. Took me a while to figure it all out, but my kids/grandkids love it. UPDATE: Comments have been turned off so I can't answer any more questions on here (and there were tons I hadn't gotten to)! So feel free to PM me. I'd love to see others making and enjoying these.

Found this closet area (?) behind a newer wall. Had shelves (we took out for now).
Any idea what it would’ve been used for? Was there a door? It’s under the middle of the house and is next to the fireplace.

What would you all put in this awkward cut out? Thought a plant but it gets close to zero light source of any kind. It’s about 2.5 feet deep and 2.5 feet tall.

We haven’t touched the inside of the front door due to lead being in the paint, in time we will sand repair and restore it. We love this original door and will do whatever we can to keep it.

Wondering what to do. We have these foundation vents that don't close. I don't have the money to spend to replace them with newer ones that are automatic. What can I do to help close them off?
Update - I only want to close them off during the very cold temperatures. I know they need to be uncovered when it's warm. The previous owner did cover a few of them, but he used toilet tank lids.
I think they are rod iron because the magnetic covers won't stick to them.
To those of you who suggested foam board cut to size, thank you. I'm thinking this is what I'll do.

Hi Old House aficionados
I have an old church, I had an old house but I sold it when I retired, but my old church is still a very busy and vibrant place. I am the president of the board.
We have a tenant who fancies herself a great decorator and DIY'er. I can't say that I agree with that assessment. Recently she violated her tenancy agreement by taking a floor sander to a swath of floor in our large meeting hall. She had hoped it would convince us to let her do the whole floor and in return give her free parking ( it's a central location next to a busy theatre, we make payroll off the parking lot) The photo is a sample of her work.
The floor is 90 years old and has been professionally refinished about 5 times.
I and my board do not care how the floor looks. We have many other uses for the money we raise from the room rental and parking, an estheticly pleaseing floor is very low on the list.
What would you do?
Have her repair the damage? Herself or pay a professional?
Terminate her tenancy?
Let her do the rest and forgo the parking income ($14000/yr)
