The Rangers' eyes are set on the playoffs, meaning last night's contest with the Canadiens was not a particularly meaningful one.

The Toronto Blue Jays take game three from the New York Yankees, 6-4 the final in the Bronx. Gerrit Cole pitched well for the most part after some opening day struggles but simply had no answer for Vladimir Guerrero Jr., who finished 4/4 on the night with three home runs and four RBIs, all while having an injured hand after being stepped on by Aaron Hicks.

The Rangers fall to the Hurricanes, 4-2 the final at the Garden. However, the story of the night belonged to Chris Kreider, whose goal with a minute and thirty seconds remaining may not have meant much to the game but represented his 50th of the season, as he becomes just the fourth Ranger to reach that historic mark.
Mike Messina has the story in his postgame recap:

The Yankees were unable to get things going off Alek Manoah and the Blue Jays bullpen as they dropped game one of a four-game set against Toronto, 3-0.

After taking two of three, the New York Yankees suffered their first loss of the season on Sunday night, 4-3 to the Boston Red Sox.
The Bombers certainly had their opportunities, totaling 11 hits but leaving an equal number of runners on base. And, despite the loss, once again saw a series of scoreless outings in relief while Giancarlo Stanton continued his tear against the Red Sox. Most concerning is the health of Jordan Montgomery, who, fortunately, Boone was feeling optimistic about in the postgame presser.
