She couldn't stand the new kitten — at first 🐱

Pearl knew exactly what she wanted when Hank joined the family: for him to leave her alone. The former stray had spent a lot of time getting comfortable in her home, and suddenly there was a kitten meowing, playing and invading her space.

Her family took the introductions slowly and supervised their time together. Then, about a month and a half in, Hank ran under the couch — and Pearl rolled onto her back and showed him her belly for the first time.

These days, Pearl has warmed up to her little brother, and the two play together with exactly the dynamic you’d expect: big sister energy meets annoying little brother energy.

Honey was painfully thin when Lyanna found her on the streets, but she didn’t need any convincing to accept help. She walked right up and climbed into Lyanna’s car.

After a vet visit, Honey went into foster care, where she slowly gained strength — and discovered just how much she loved cuddling. And while her Adopt Me video was still being made, the news came in: Honey had been adopted. ❤️

Henry’s family tried to help when he got stuck in a tree, but their rescue attempt startled him and he climbed even higher. After a day of pouring rain left the branches slick, they decided to call in an expert.

Cat rescuer Steve Morrow carefully climbed up, reached a very nervous Henry and tucked him safely into his rescue bag. Soon, Henry was back on solid ground with his family, where all four paws belonged. ❤️

This rescued yellow jacket refused to leave her new friend 🐝💛

Anja found a struggling yellow jacket on the side of the road and tried everything she could think of to help her — water, flowers, even a little enclosure. But the yellow jacket wasn’t interested. Instead, she spent the rest of the day perched on Anja’s fingers.

Anja cooked one-handed, kept her tiny guest warm and eventually settled in for the night with her still attached. By the next day, the yellow jacket was moving around more and finally ate some blueberry juice.

Then, without warning, she flew away.

Every morning, Milkshake wakes up, runs across the bed and picks a fight with the same teddy bear.

The bear was a gift from his mom's ex-boyfriend, and while no one knows what's going on inside Milkshake's tiny head, he's been taking on his fuzzy rival ever since. The rest of the day, he's busy following Marie around, demanding attention and proving he's basically a dog trapped in a hamster's body.

Elephants now have a protected path between two very different worlds 🐘🌿

Tanzania has officially protected its first wildlife corridor, reconnecting savanna habitat in Nyerere National Park with the rainforests of the Udzungwa Mountains. The 8.7-mile path follows a historic elephant migration route that had become fragmented by farmland. Local landowners helped choose the route and gave up portions of their land in exchange for compensation.

And wildlife is already using it: Cameras recorded 529 elephants moving through the corridor over 15 months, along with buffalo, servals, monkeys, otters and other animals.

These little birds are getting a helping hand back into the wild 🕊️💚

Conservationists have released a new group of European turtle doves into the wild in the UK as part of an effort to help the rapidly declining species recover. The birds were raised specifically for conservation and released in Kent, where teams will monitor how they adapt to life in the wild.

The project hopes the newly released birds will eventually join the remaining wild population and breed. Turtle doves have declined dramatically in the UK in recent decades, making every step toward rebuilding their population especially important.
