I was looking through old fishing photos online and got reminded of **Dottie**, the legendary largemouth bass.

It got me wondering—do you think there’s a bass out there somewhere that’s actually bigger than Dottie was?

And realistically, how big do you think a largemouth bass can get under absolutely perfect conditions?

Would love to hear everyone’s guesses and theories. There has to be a giant hiding somewhere that nobody has caught yet… right? 👀🎣

This was our first fishing date, and probably four casts in, I told her to throw one right up against the weeds.

She absolutely nailed the cast.

I said, **“Pay the lady!”** and *WHACK*—fish on. 🐟🔥

Couldn’t have scripted it much better.

Part of me thinks my dad may have pulled a few strings with the big man upstairs to make sure the first fishing date went well. ❤️

**NEW PB!!! 🎣🔥**

**SETUP:**

Just caught this beautiful big girl from a pond right up the street from my subdivision.

I almost never fish this particular pond because the few times I’ve tried it before, I only caught a handful of small bass. Today, though, I decided I was going to fish all the overlooked ponds on my street—and this is exactly why I’ll never write off a pond again. 😅

I managed to get a few decent selfies. Anyone who has tried taking pictures alone with a big fish knows how awkward that can be, so forgive me if they aren’t exactly professional quality. 🤷🏽‍♂️😂

Luckily, a nearby neighbor was working in his backyard and heard me yelling like a complete wild man. 🤣

No scale this time. I’ve decided I’m not too worried about the exact number. I know what my previous PB looked like, and this fish was clearly bigger, healthier, and heavier.

For me, it’s less about chasing some record number and more about consistently finding quality bass, enjoying the experience, and sharing it with other anglers.

Always catch and release, so of course she went straight back in to grow even bigger and fight another day.

And trust me—she fought like HELL. 💪🐟

**Broke my PB… again! 🎣🔥**

Last weekend I bumped my personal best from **5.89 lb to 6.04 lb**.

Went back out today and somehow did it again with this **24-inch fish weighing 6.14 lb** on my scale.

I’m starting to wonder if my scale might be reading a little light, because I’ve seen several fish with a similar build and length weigh considerably more. I also did a rough photo/length-based estimate that suggested it could have been heavier, and most of my fishing buddies and family thought the same.

But none of that is official, and there’s obviously no way to reweigh the fish now, so **6.14 lb is what goes in the books**.

Either way, another PB is another PB, and I’m definitely not complaining. 😅🐟

Catch, release, and hopefully meet him again when he’s even bigger. 🎣

Posting this for anyone who doesn’t have a scale and wants a better idea of just how big a true 8-pound bass actually looks in person.

This one weighed **8 lb 11 oz** and is still my personal best.

Pictures can be deceiving, so hopefully this gives a little perspective on the size of a legitimate 8-pounder. 💪🎣

First genuinely big fish I’ve caught, and it nearly dumped me off the paddleboard trying to land it. 😂

Measured roughly **19 inches**, but unfortunately I didn’t have a scale with me, so I have no idea what it weighed. Definitely adding one to the fishing gear after this!

I was telling my grandfather—the person who got me into bass fishing—about how a big bass broke off my frog that morning. 🎣

I mentioned that I wanted to get a baitcaster setup with heavier line since I’d been using 8 lb monofilament.

A week later, this showed up on my doorstep. ❤️

Safe to say Grandpa was listening. Can’t wait to put it to work and hopefully land the next one that tries to break me off! 🐟💪

My son and I had a great day on the water yesterday! 🎣❤️

Despite the wet and rainy weather, we managed to finish **4th in our club tournament** and also landed the **big fish of the day**. 🏆🐟

We even had the fish on that could’ve won the whole thing, but unfortunately it got away. That’s fishing!

Still an awesome day spent together, and there’s always next time. 🎣💪

**No more pike… or at least fewer of them! 🎣😅**

I definitely prefer catching bass, but lately I seem to be pulling in more pike than bass.

Does anyone have any tips for **avoiding pike and targeting bass more effectively**? I know pike are fun to catch—they’re strong, aggressive fish—but bass are just what I enjoy fishing for more.

I catch and release everything.

Caught this bad boy earlier from underneath a dock that I was absolutely convinced had bass hiding under it… apparently the pike had other plans. 😂🐟

Also, I’m heading back out in a few minutes, about an hour before sunset. It’s a clear, calm day—would **topwater still be a good bet around lily pad coves**, or would you throw something else?

Any advice is appreciated! 🎣🌅
