Made a couple rare trips up to the Bronx this week to fill in with the scoreboard on two NYCFC matches that had been rescheduled from earlier in the season. Always a nice surprise to get called up for the occasional gig at Yankee Stadium.

Back out in Harrison yesterday running camera for the video boards at the Premiere Lacrosse League Championship Match between New York & Denver. Since they just wanted the line cut during gameplay, I had the rare opportunity to just play around with trying to learn tight follow on a sport I’ve never touched before. Only got the chance to work a handful of indoor lacrosse matches, before the Riptides left New York, and was always doing handheld so never got to actually shoot the game. Turns out shooting lacrosse is a ton of fun and is now on the list of sports that I wish I could figure out how to break into covering for broadcast.

I’ve worked quite a few Intrepid Museum Astro Lives with Das & Elysia over the years, but this one was something special. This week NASASpaceflight.com took the show on the road and brought everyone along with us for a virtual field trip to NASA’s Neutral Buoyancy Lab, down at NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston, to learn all about how astronauts train to work on EVA outside the ISS. Growing up as a fan of all things spaceflight, I never thought I’d get the chance to even set foot inside the NBL, so to be able to go behind the scenes and see how everything works first hand was an absolute dream come true. The passion and commitment of everyone we met there was incredible, and it was deeply humbling to see how invested everyone was in their mission to not only teach these astronauts how to work in space, but to also ensure their safety during these training sessions. It’s a shame more people aren’t aware of all the amazing work being done at the NBL, so it truly was an honor and a privilege to be given all this access and share even a tiny bit of their story. If you missed it, the whole stream is up on the channel and you absolutely need to give it a watch.

Earlier this week, NASASpaceflight.com was invited to visit the ILC Dover Astrospace Houston suit lab and take a *very* close look at their new, rapidly configurable, prototype commercial space suit, by letting Elysia & Das jump in the suit and take it for a spin. This was genuinely some of the most fun I’ve had in my entire career and I can’t thank the folks over there enough for taking the time to let us show off just a little bit of their hard work. In case you missed it, the whole stream is up on the channel and is an absolute blast!

Wanted to celebrate Firefly Aerospace going public yesterday by sharing some of my set photos from the Flight 6 broadcast that we never got around to posting. Haven’t talked about it much on here, but getting to serve as floor manager for the last three launch broadcasts has absolutely been one of the highlights of my career. All the Fireflies I’ve had the fortune to meet on my trips to Austin have been wonderful human beings, and the passion they all have for what they do is incredible. It’s truly been a privilege to play a tiny part in covering their hard work, and I remain eternally grateful to the fine folks at NASASpaceflight.com for giving me the opportunity.

Back in Harrison for the first time this year, working the scoreboard for Gotham FC’s home opener, in the newly renamed Sports Illustrated Stadium. Great to finally be back to shooting soccer, after an offseason that felt like forever.

Over the weekend I was able to add yet another sport (performance art?) to my ever growing list, as I got called in to cover one of the Monster Jam event days for the UBS Arena video board. Despite growing up in the deep south, I never really had a huge childhood interest in monster trucks, but that was absolutely the most fun I’ve had as a camera operator in a very long time, if not ever. All the drivers put on a wildly entertaining show, and there was a kind of kinetic energy to the action that was nothing like anything I’ve shot before. I’ve always wanted to try my hand at shooting motorsports, especially the more acrobatic varieties, and this little taste already has me itching to try it again.

Back home from an unexpected week at Starbase, supporting the NASASpaceflight.com coverage of Starship’s 7th test flight. Wasn’t originally going to be down there for this one, but, with New Glenn getting delayed, the team was stretched a bit thin and I got a last-minute call to fly down and manage the SPI tracking site. Also spent some time after the launch helping to return some of the SBL cameras to their normal operational locations, and even got to see Ship 34 up close, when we ended up behind the road closure for its roll back to the production site from Massey. It’s a privilege to have the opportunity to work with such a talented & passionate team, and I look forward to the next one.

Was doing the math recently and, after just over 18 years of working in broadcasting, I’ve now passed the point where I’ve been doing this work for longer than I haven’t, so I figured I’d celebrate that with the lighting of the biggest candle around. Was very fortunate to be asked once again by the excellent folks at NASASpaceflight.com to travel down to South Texas and manage the host set and long-range tracking site for their coverage of the 6th test flight of SpaceX’s Starship/Super Heavy launch vehicle. Always a privilege getting to work with their talented group of hosts and techs.

Between work and cloud cover, took till Thursday evening for me to get a chance to go comet watching. Hauled my long lens up to the Brooklyn Heights Promenade after work and managed to get a few shots of it. Sadly, the light pollution was too strong in the city to get any clear definition on the tail, being this far past peak brightness, but I’ll take what I can get.
