Clarksdale welcomes the granddaughter of to his birthplace.

This historic moment will include several events highlighting the new book from the estate “A Change Is Gonna Come” illustrated by . The book centers Sam Cooke’s legendary song and inspires the next generation to create change.

The collaboration will host a Community Conversation on November 20th open to the public entitled the

🎶 DID YOU KNOW? Drake & Rihanna’s Take Care traces back to Mississippi roots.

✨ Bobby “Blue” Bland — the “Lion of the Blues” — brought soul + storytelling that shaped R&B.
🎸 B.B. King — straight out of the Delta — carried the blues worldwide.

The track samples Gil Scott-Heron’s “I’ll Take Care of You,” which came from Bland’s version. And Bland & King often toured together, building the bridge today’s artists stand on.

From the Delta to the charts, Mississippi’s sound will forever live on in the music that we love today. The culture and sound will never die- it evolves.
