The bedtime battle isn't about the bed. It's about the stop. π
If getting your little one to wind down feels like wrestling a very tired octopus, you're not alone β and it's probably not you.
Here's a little win that helped in our house: instead of one big "right, bedtime NOW", we started a five-minute slow-down about half an hour before. Same three things, same order, every night.
1. Lights down a notch β lamps on, big light off.
2. One quiet job together β tidy three toys into a basket, no more.
3. The same short book or the same quiet song.
That's it. No charts, no bribes, nothing to buy. The magic isn't the steps β it's that they're the same every night, so their little brain starts to read them as "ah, we're heading for sleep" before the bed is even in sight.
Some nights it still goes sideways. That's normal too. We're all just muddling through. But on the good nights, that boring little routine does more heavy lifting than any fancy gadget.
What's the one thing that's part of your bedtime wind-down every single night? Drop it below π β someone reading this at 7pm with an overtired toddler will thank you.
