"We began our journey making the documentary, Casting By way back in 2006. In making the film, it became apparent that Casting Directors deserved an Oscar and that I needed to advocate for it within the doc itself. I sat down with Marion Dougherty in 2007 and asked for her permission to do so. She smiled and, without hesitation, said , “Let’s do it!” The film premiered at in 2012. Sadly, Marion had passed away the year before. It made its premiere on in 2013. Finally, ten years later, our dream -and the dream of Marion and Lynn Stalmaster —has become a reality. I wish so much that they both could be here to celebrate with us. We are over the moon that this great profession is finally getting its due after 100 years. Bravo to and all those that led the fight to make this happen. .roberts.925

The long-campaigned-for new category will arrive with the 98th Academy Awards, honoring the films of 2025. The casting award is the first new Oscar category since Best Animated Feature Film in 2001…

Not much more to say.

“Among the 500 people singled out for travel and financial restrictions on Friday were Americans seen as adversaries by Mr. Trump, including Letitia James, the state attorney general of New York who has investigated and sued him. Brad Raffensperger, the secretary of state of Georgia who rebuffed Mr. Trump’s pressure to reverse the outcome of the 2020 election, also made the list. And Lt. Michael Byrd, the Capitol Police officer who shot the pro-Trump rioter Ashli Babbitt on Jan. 6, 2021, was another notable name.

None of those three has anything to do with Russia policy and the only reason they would have come to Moscow’s attention is because Mr. Trump has publicly assailed them. The Russian Foreign Ministry offered no specific explanation for why they would be included on the list but did say that among its targets were “those in government and law enforcement agencies who are directly involved in the persecution of dissidents in the wake of the so-called storming of the Capitol.”

We join our friends, colleagues, and nation in observing Blackout Tuesday.

Our company is founded on social action and social justice and our films are a reflection of that commitment. It is therefore our mission and obligation to stand with the families and communities that are currently experiencing incredible tragedy, frustration and loss.

As this nation suffers and seemingly fractures, things must change. In order to do so, we must all come together. We hope to be one small part of the solution.

Tomorrow as a company and as a team, we will suspend business, be silent on social media, and take this time to listen, reflect, educate, and search for answers.

We ask that you all do the same.

"When the movie was done and I returned to Los Angeles I have to admit I fell into a little bit of a depression because it was out of my hands now and it could go so badly. And it seemed like it easily could. You know, no matter what you did. I've seen films, great films get taken down, I've seen people get taken down. And I remember really thinking like oh this is going to be a hard ride. And I was absolutely shocked when it started when the reviews came in. And I was so grateful that it was so positive. Also that people were talking about the movie we had made. They were seeing the movie we had made, not the version of the movie they wish we'd made or what they thought Wonder Woman should be that she wasn't or whatever it was it was. No matter what happens ahead, these people are talking about having seen the movie we tried to make. So they saw, somebody saw it. Somebody acknowledged it and then as it continued to succeed it was amazing."⁠
