Suspended above Hungary’s UNESCO-listed Tokaj-Hegyalja wine region, the new Sauska Tokaj Winery by BORD Architectural Studio redefines what it means to build without touching the land.

Two monumental, lens-shaped volumes seem to hover above the slopes of Padi Hill - a powerful expression of the studio’s philosophy of “Untouched Architecture.” Beneath the surface lies a subterranean world dedicated to wine production, where fermentation and aging unfold in cool, circular chambers known as the Cold Cathedral.

Above, a panoramic realm of hospitality - with a restaurant, bar, and terrace designed by Tihany Design - opens dramatically to the vineyards and horizon. Here, curved ceilings, local stone, and wood amplify the warmth of the experience while the structure itself feels weightless, reflecting sunlight like a pair of floating discs.

Balancing innovation with reverence, Sauska Tokaj stands as a modern landmark - a dialogue between gravity and grace, nature and craft, where architecture becomes an act of quiet respect for the land it celebrates.

Amid the rolling hills of Chengdu’s Tianfu New Area, the Tianfu Habitat Pavilion by CSWADI reimagines architecture as a living landscape - a place where culture, nature, and community flow together in perfect rhythm.

The pavilion unfolds as a sequence of interlocking circles that blend seamlessly into the terrain. Each zone - the Courtyard, Lotus Pond, and Bamboo Hills - reveals a facet of Chengdu’s spirit: gathering, reflection, and renewal.

At the heart lies the Courtyard, home to a fan-shaped exhibition hall and a dual-sided stage for Sichuan opera and storytelling, framed by a bamboo tea house inspired by Chengdu’s legendary teahouses. Beyond, the Lotus Pond mirrors the sky and hosts floating hotpot tables, turning dining into a communal ritual of joy.

Further still, the Bamboo Hills retreat dissolves into the forest with guesthouses, pools, and hot springs designed for rest and reconnection long after the exhibition ends.

Softly rising from the earth, the Tianfu Habitat Pavilion stands as a modern expression of Chengdu’s timeless circle of life - open, fluid, and endlessly renewing.

Once a place of industry and education, Konelabra in Helsinki has entered a new era - one that honors its heritage while embracing tomorrow.

In late 2023, Fyra, commissioned by Cobbleyard Real Estate, began transforming the historically protected site with care and precision. Every decision - made in collaboration with the Helsinki City Museum and Building Authorities - was guided by respect for the building’s SR-1 designation.

Original details like timber floors, cranes, and electrical panels were meticulously restored, while subtle interventions - new staircases, window openings, and warm wooden materials - breathe new life into Tarjanne’s industrial clarity.

The result is a dialogue between past and present: adaptable, light-filled workspaces that balance authenticity with modern function. Sustainability lies at the heart of the transformation, from material choices to energy-efficient systems, with the building now pursuing BREEAM In-use certification.

Konelabra today is more than a renovation - it’s a restorative approach to architecture, where preservation, innovation, and well-being coexist.

Perched on the cliffs of Mexico’s Pacific coast, Casa Piscina del Cielo by Zozaya Arquitectos blurs the line between architecture, geology, and horizon. More than a home, it is a sculptural landscape - born from stone, suspended above the sea.

Rather than reshape the rugged terrain, the architects built with it: ancient boulders pierce through courtyards, walls fold around the slope, and the house seems to emerge organically from the earth. At its heart, a pool stretches boldly beyond the cliff’s edge - its glass floor opening to the sky below, creating the surreal feeling of floating between sea and air.

Beneath a vast palapa roof, open-air living spaces flow effortlessly - sun, breeze, and scent of the Pacific intertwine with timber and stone. Private suites descend along the hillside, each framing an intimate view of water and light.

Every surface tells a story of place: parota wood, chukum plaster, and raw concrete root the house in regional craft. Landscapes of native vegetation merge with the structure, erasing boundaries between the natural and the made.

In a quiet Canadian hayfield, Omer Arbel has crafted 75.9 - a home born from experimentation rather than design. Poured concrete into stretched fabric created organic, lily pad-shaped columns that became the heart of this striking residence.

Four glass and cedar pavilions now stand beneath these concrete forms, their delicate transparency contrasting with the raw, expressive structure above. The home seems to sink into the surrounding hayfield, with grass-covered paths and magnolia trees planted atop the hollow columns, allowing nature to weave through and over the architecture.

Inside, light filters gently through cedar-lined interiors, where handcrafted timber fixtures, polished concrete floors, and a serene indoor garden create a balance between the monumental and the intimate. Every element - from the custom Bocci lighting to the curving thresholds - reinforces the sense of discovery, as if the house had always been there, waiting to be found.

75.9 stands as both artifact and manifesto - an invitation to see architecture not as control, but as collaboration with material, process, and place. It is a poetic union of art, experiment, and life.

On a quiet coastal street, Casa Tao unfolds as more than a home - it’s a meditation on stillness, shade, and the art of slowing down. Designed around the emotional essence of shade, the house turns away from the glare of the sun to embrace calm, breeze, and reflection.

Balancing openness and seclusion, Casa Tao faces a tree-lined plaza at a gentle angle, letting light and air filter in softly through patios and courtyards. The design transforms shade from a simple absence of light into an emotional space - a sanctuary for serenity and quiet attention.

The residence unfolds in two layers:

In the heart of Sydney’s Surry Hills, YSG Studio reimagines the new Alémais headquarter as a cosmic atelier - a workplace that blurs the boundaries between fashion, folklore, and fantasy.

Designed as a “galaxy of limitless imagination,” the 491m² space reflects the brand’s bold visual language and artistic collaborations. At the entrance, a shimmering mosaic mural of mythical flora and fauna greets visitors, setting the tone for what lies within: a world of vibrant storytelling and tactile beauty.

Inside, Calacatta Viola marble, shell inlay, palm reed, velvet, and bronze form a richly layered palette, while whimsical details - from a custom “eye” dining table to fibreglass globe lights recalling distant planets - add celestial charm.

The layout balances play and productivity: open work zones, flexible creative hubs, and intimate corners designed for collaboration or quiet reflection. Every piece, from mobile pinboards to rolling display units, supports the fluid, ever-evolving rhythm of Alémais’ creative process.

In the heart of Seoul’s Kyungdong Market, a once-forgotten theater has come back to life. Built in the 1960s and closed for decades, the Kyungdong Theater has been reborn as Starbucks Kyungdong 1960 - not just a café, but a living memory.

Rather than erase the past, the design preserves it. The original architecture, double doors, and stage-like layout have all been reinterpreted - the coffee bar now takes center stage, while rows of seats evoke the feeling of watching a performance.

Spread across two floors, the space blends retro 1960s charm with modern minimalism, creating a warm backdrop for community gatherings, music, and cultural events. As part of Starbucks’ Community Store program, proceeds help restore the surrounding market - linking commerce, culture, and care.

In Mexico’s Valle de Guadalupe, a new landmark redefines the art of winemaking. Designed by Rojkind Arquitectos and AMASA Estudio, Vinícola Pictograma is a circular winery that blends architecture, landscape, and craft into one immersive experience.

Conceived as a geometry of place, the building’s wheel-shaped form orients visitors around a central courtyard - where vaulted brick and concrete spaces unfold like chapters in a story. One vault remains open, framing a tranquil garden that draws the vineyard into the architecture.

Its materials - sand-toned concrete, red brick, and weathered steel - age with the land, mirroring the textures and colors of the surrounding terrain. Partially embedded in the earth, the structure uses passive cooling and natural light to maintain harmony with the environment.

Beyond wine, Pictograma is a meditation on time, craft, and community. Every shadow, every curve, every sip - all tell the story of a place where architecture and viticulture meet the spirit of the land.

Tucked inside five elegant Victorian townhouses in South Kensington, the Cromwell Place Café isn’t just for coffee - it’s a design manifesto.

Curated by Martin Cohen with interiors led by Nick Vinson, the café pays homage to 20th-century hospitality icons: from a bespoke zinc bar by Daytrip Studio, to mid-century classics like Ignazio Gardella’s Fagiolo sofa (1965, Hotel Excelsior Venice) reupholstered in vibrant Kvadrat velvet. Every piece - Rodney Kinsman’s Tokyo stools, Philippe Starck’s Café Rothschild chairs, Angelo Mangiarotti’s designs, Eames tables - was chosen for its provenance and cultural resonance.

Lighting by Michael Anastassiades and Vincent Van Duysen sets the tone, while custom rugs by CC-Tapis weave past and present together.

Just as the surrounding galleries curate art, the café curates design - transforming hospitality into a cultural experience. It’s not only a place to pause, but a living archive of design history, reframed for today.

In suburban Los Angeles, Mar Vista by PPAA (Pérez Palacios Arquitectos Asociados) transforms the idea of a family home through subtractive design - carving space rather than adding mass. Patios, voids, and terraces become the anchors of the residence, flooding interiors with daylight, air, and framed views of nature.

The design balances restraint and warmth: oak wood, polished concrete, and striated plaster create a serene material palette, while generous glazing connects indoors and out. A curved roof softens the form, reinterpreting the gable within local height constraints, and cross-ventilation ensures comfort in California’s warm climate.

Social spaces open onto patios, while private rooms retreat above, with a separate guest volume offering independence at the rear. Every threshold - between light and shadow, enclosure and openness - feels intentional, shaping an atmosphere of calm and continuity.

Mar Vista doesn’t shout; it whispers. Through geometry, texture, and light, it becomes a quiet sanctuary in the city - crafted with subtlety, balance, and timeless presence.
