Poem Title: The Benin Carvers
About the motive of this poem written by Okechukwu Okugo:
The Benin Carvers is a poem that highlights how a people used a group of talented artisans to preserve their history and culture. People with extraordinary craftsmanship were selected and organized into a technically skilled guild, the Igbesanmwan, and their skilled descendants continue to perform the same function. These are carvers who produce ivory and wood sculptures. They are also brass casters who produced ancient, famous bronzes, artifacts, and works that were looted and are now on display in museums across Britain. The Benin Carvers can write on ivory, wood, bronze, and brass, using knives, adzes, and abrasive materials. Patronized by the kings of the ancient Benin Kingdom in present-day Nigeria, they work to validate and glorify their kings. But this poem focuses on their deliberate, specific use of technical skills to record their history and document the reality of their day. For example, they carved Portuguese figures they had seen, preserving that aspect of their history. Leopard figures in their works depict the animals they observed and likely hunted. You can find in the British Museum their elaborately carved tusks bearing marks of their rich culture. Thus, they functioned as traditional African historians and scribes, demonstrating that Africans preserved history not only orally but also in writing and through art. Even though the ancient cultural heritage they made before colonizers came to their land had been looted and kept in British reserved places, their mark on African history cannot be erased, including the Igbo Ukwu arts of sophisticated bronze and copper alloy made by Igbos as early as the 9th century, which showed a special lost-wax casting of the Igbos. They made vessels and etched their complex trade routes and networks on them. These works demonstrate that ancient African ancestors were technologically advanced, capable of mining metals and forming alloys by mixing different metals, which their artisans used to produce artworks. These metals were forged to create tools and other objects. Today, where are the African inventors who did things for themselves and did not wait for foreigners? Had their ancestors waited only to use what others had produced and advanced, would they have made sophisticated artifacts that mystify the world and be worth looting and preserving, as theirs are? Today, are there people preserving their present-day reality and history for the unborn with their crafts? Today, who preserves animals and other natural beauty through their art and skills? This work by Okechukwu Okugo aims to promote talent and the arts and to showcase how they can be used to document important aspects of a people's life and culture, and to preserve positive values and heritage, not vices.

Book Title: A CRY FOR LOVE, MINDSET, AND AGAINST R**E & ABUSE: AN ANTHOLOGY OF POETRY WITH WRITING EXERCISES AND NOTES
by OKORO UKATA
For this Anthology, the poems are drawn from the published works of two poets, Okechukwu Okugo and Harlord Ankwasa.
The title of this Anthology is used to remind us all and every reader of the damage r**e and sexual abuse can cause to the mindset and to our capacity to show and process true love, and for us all to continue to show support to all traumatized and sexually abused victims and facilitate healing. This is a different kind of literature – the first of its kind. It is designed to help readers apply poems for the first time to solving real-life societal problems at both the societal and personal scales. It is my real intent, as the compiler of this work, to make this book a solution to real-life trauma for sexual abuse and r**e victims and those who have a quest to find the right partners to share true love.
This special collection is also intended to foster a positive, collaborative mindset. For deeper engagement, I have added writing notes, exercises, and expanded exercises at the beginning and end of this book. These notes and exercises took the form of analytical, rating, and other types of questions designed to transform passive reading into active engagement with poems. Notes 1, 2, and 3, and Exercises 1 to 5, with Expanded Exercises 6 to 13, which can help readers set goals and track progress.
This special collection of poems, with annotations, can help everyone take real-life action in this happy, joyful book – happiness is the outcome I intend for those who read this work.

POEM TITLE: MODERN CHILD (RETITLED NAUGHTY CHILD)
BOOK TITLE: POEM FROM AFRICA TO THE WORLD
VOICE: JOVAN PATTERSON

MODERN CHILD is a kind of nostalgic poem. The Speaker was lamenting all he found odd with his child. The Speaker is lamenting and comparing what he was familiar with to what he observed in the child's behavior. The marked generational difference between them is evident from observable patterns. Some of the marked changed behaviors are 1. Not respecting older people or seniors 2. Not respecting her mother despite her sacrifices and despising her motherly advice 3. Not respecting his father and trampling on his curfews and rules, he wanted to use to protect the child 4. The mode of dressing and the kind of daredevil risks the child now takes, which he, the father, wouldn't ever dream of taking 5. Seeking an easy life and the feeling of entitlement 6. The obsession with devices and the addiction to using social media 7. Lacking the desire to read knowledgeable books, preferring to sit and watch TV, and livestreaming The Speaker's impersonal or allegorical elegy ends with him wondering: if his child grows without discipline and fails to absorb the traits that help a child become a wholesome adult, how will he raise his own children? This poem is not a longing to bring back what had been left behind or regress to what had been advanced and refined, but rather for the reader to understand that change is inevitable and, as such, everyone must find a way to keep making the best use of present circumstances and to accept the reality of new change and prepare to work better with it. An advancing parent must understand that the dynamics of a changing world take a toll on their child's well-being. As such, recognizing the influence and knowing how to work more effectively with the child to help them navigate the world is more constructive than seeing changes as a personal revolt against the parent. (PART 3) The short stories & poems that bring to you the life & troubles in New York & Enugu
Short Story Title: Men Are Dying In Silence
Book Title: Two Worlds: New York By Way Of Enugu - Stories & Poems, written by Prof. Eugene Ritchie & Okechukwu Okugo.
The second short story, titled Men are dying in silence by Okechukwu Okugo, tells of domestic violence of a man suffering in the hands of his wife despite his earnest efforts to be a good father. People usually think domestic violence is only experienced by women, but because of the image culture placed on men, most men hide their victimhood. It is expected that a man should not cry out in public. A man must endure every pain and burden he faces in his family or in society; otherwise, if he cries out, he is less of a man. Chike, who knows that his wife is physically stronger than he is, and his wife is now taking advantage of his vulnerability, even found a way to pin it on Chike as the abusive one. Everyone in the neighborhood believed the woman, and all saw Chike as the abusive man, despite him being the one crying deep inside. This story is told to encourage you, the man, not suffer in silence. It is also acceptable for a man to cry. It is cool for the man to seek help. When you suffer abuse in silence, it can take a toll on your emotional state and can quash your productivity and your right to the enjoyment of life. Whether you are a man or a woman, never allow abuse damage your emotional state by keeping silent. Your work, welfare, and wholesomeness in life depend on it.
