Trump Reveals The Secret Naval Operations That Kept Global Oil Prices from Hitting $300.
Speaking to members of the press on Wednesday at the G7 Summit in France, U.S. President Donald Trump credited covert nightly operations by the United States Navy for preventing a catastrophic spike in global energy markets.
According to the President, the U.S. military has been secretly escorting large numbers of oil tankers out of volatile waters under the cover of darkness—an intervention he claims single-handedly kept crude prices stable during recent geopolitical friction.
"A Nightly Average of 15 to 25 Ships"
During a media briefing on the sidelines of the summit, President Trump revealed details of what he described as a highly successful, unpublicized military effort.
"The reason oil stayed low is because we were taking ships out every night that you didn't even know about," Trump stated. "Two days ago, three days ago, a month ago, we took out 22 ships. We averaged from 15 to 25 ships a night. Nobody knew that."
The operations, which reportedly involved moving millions of barrels of oil past hostile positions with ship lights turned off to evade regional radar networks, were heavily praised by the commander-in-chief. "Our Navy did a great job. Nobody knew what was happening," he added.
Global energy analysts had previously warned that sustained conflict and the effective closure of critical maritime chokepoints—such as the Strait of Hormuz—could push crude prices to unprecedented heights, severely damaging the global economy. President Trump pointed to the U.S. Navy’s stealth escorts as the primary buffer against that worst-case scenario.
"That's why oil didn't go to 300 dollars a barrel; it went to 125, 150," Trump explained, tracking the market's trajectory through the peak of the crisis.
