My son Jelani Akil Bauman (aka LANI B. SUPREME) continues to carry forward our family’s powerful musical legacy that began with my great grandfather, Professor James Brown Humphrey in 1859.

Jelani will be featured in a short documentary that captures his life, his journey, and the roots of our legacy — premiering at the DOC NYC Film Festival on November 15, 2025, at 1:45 p.m. at the IFC Center Theater, 323 Sixth Avenue, New York, NY 10014.
