Tessa Violet @tessaviolet featured in the INNOVATE Issue ✨🧡 "One thing I have clarity about is a desire to continue growing and evolving, and what I'm willing to give up is time, energy, and being "comfortable." Growth is uncomfortable. It may be uncomfortable but not more so than being stagnant."

When pop artist Tessa Violet was unable to tour her 2019 album #BadIdeas, she instead supported her work in more creative ways, releasing a string of revamped fan-favorite singles with her favorite artists like @MisterWives and @ChloeMoriondo. One to break the mold, Violet was not content with a standard virtual concert tour, instead innovating her livestreams to make shows more interactive. 🎶

“I think innovation is essential. I never feel completely fulfilled if I don’t feel like I’m progressing, which the pandemic definitely tried to get in the way of! I don’t think any of us have been more innovative than in the last year and a half, we’ve had to find new ways to work with people, new ways to connect with people and to continue thriving in any industry, and I’ve been so impressed by how people have managed to do all of that.” Tiggi Hawke is certainly no stranger to the necessity of adaptation, being one of the young artists today who successfully pivoted during lockdown. 💫

@codyfrostmusic featured in the INNOVATE Issue ❤️💫

“I struggle taking myself seriously a lot of the time, and I feel like songwriting is the only time when I really sit down and I'm calm and focused. But in real life, I'm just basically a clown.” That sentiment serves as the foundation for the bulk of the music of Cody Frost, one of the UK’s most unique rising young stars.

Honest and open about her struggles with ADHD since her pre-teen years, she attributes a newfound clarity as an artist to that diagnosis. “I think my diagnosis was so critical to learning who I am. When you get diagnosed with something like that, you kind of mourn the person you could have been, and I had to take time off to do that and come to terms with the fact that this is how I am.”

"Trying to record a record in a global pandemic was a strange situation for sure. We were working in a studio in Brussels when the lockdowns began and we made the decision after much deliberation to stay and work. It was hard in a way as there was no escape from the project. Even on days off we would just be in the studio. But that did mean that we could focus in on this piece of work in a way that we hadn't been able to do before with our other records."

Very few bands have been able to achieve quite the same level of success as British band Wolf Alice. They have headlined festivals, won the prestigious #MercuryPrize and numerous other awards, and recently celebrated 1st ever UK number 1 album "Blue Weekend" a thunderous odyssey that propelled the band to even further success. 💫

@heyitsau_ra featured in the INNOVATE Issue 💙🧡💚

"Growing up, I’ve always felt very existential and had moments where I felt very outside myself. During lockdown, living with my family again spending days on end in my room, I started feeling that again. It’s a scary feeling, but also amazing at the same time because it made me understand myself better. I wanted to make a body of work listeners could turn to if they’re also feeling lost."

With the COVID-19 pandemic well into its second year, many Gen-Z music artists like newcomer Au/Ra have had to create an entirely new roadmap when it comes to innovation. Au/Ra’s debut album "Soundtrack to an Existential Crisis" is still a record quintessentially herself that deconstructs what it means to be Gen-Z today.

HEALING THROUGH ART: FEMALE ARTISTS TO CELEBRATE | THE UNTITLED MAGAZINE

Female artists in New York City are unveiling to us their exhibitions and curations, we are reminded of a safe space to express femininity and to feel entwined with one another. Coverage by The Untitled Magazine.

“I think @DuranDuran’s greatest secret as to why we're able to move with the times, is that we are so flexible. We've never tied ourselves down to one sound. We try to smash up whatever sound we made on the last record each time; we just wipe the board completely clean and start again,” stated #NickRhodes to @theuntitledmagazine. 💎Constantly reinventing their sound and style since their debut in the early ‘80s, Duran Duran has managed to push boundaries in ways artists seldom do. “Try to make something that sounds different,” muses Rhodes. “Try to make something that takes you in a different direction. You can't always be successful as an artist. There are very few cases in history in any field where people are always successful. But you have to be brave. If you're not brave, you could end up being dull, and there is nothing worse!” ✨
