A message from PLUSHnyc President, Michael Levesque, Sr. —

“On this day of remembrance, everyone has a story about this day in 2001, here’s mine. It was a day very much like this morning, clear blue sky and perfect temperature. I was driving down the west side much like I was on the morning of September 11th, 2001. I was going to a rehearsal prior to heading off to Germany the next day for a 5-day show in Cologne. I had heard the news report about a single plane striking the WTC and could see smoke rising in the air. As I got close enough to see, I noticed a plane flying low over the harbor toward the towers and I, being a licensed pilot, thought it odd a plane of that size was flying such a route. I didn’t see the plane hit the second tower but I did see a ball of fire come out the other side. At that point it was clearly not an accident. I turned around and headed out of Manhattan unsure of what was going on. The only thing I knew at that point was our world would never be the same again. My wife and daughter happened to be in Norway at a recording session, my son started a new job the day before. I was one of the last cars to get out of Manhattan before they shut down the bridges. Listening to news reports this morning, I shed a tear remembering how I felt that day, how I got home and sat alone in front of the TV for 24 hours straight, hypnotized to a screen exclaiming the horror brought upon our country by an evil ideology. We all know how the world has changed in the last 18 years, therefore I ask you all to say a prayer for the innocent civilians and first responders who died that day, and one for the first responders and contractors who have since died from working on the pile at Ground Zero. Lastly, I ask for a prayer that we may, sometime in the future, enjoy a world living in peace and harmony—for our children, grandchildren, all of us. From myself and my amazing staff at PLUSH, may you all enjoy a day of peace and may God bless the USA.”

An unparalleled experiential event that culminated with a brand new commercial for the Broadway play, all of which Michael Levesque and Nicole Pettigrew had the pleasure of sound designing & mixing. We personally think this beats New Year's Eve as the best countdown to happen in Times Square, but maybe we're biased. On top of winning at the Radio Mercury Awards earlier this month, “The Maze” for Westworld HBO takes the crown in Radio and Audio at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. Our own Carl Mandelbaum mixed the case study for the project, on top of recording all character voices for the game itself. Congrats to all the creatives involved in this triumph! 🏆🥂

Kehinde Wiley, the artist behind Barack Obama's official 2018 presidential portrait, recently opened "Tahiti" at the Galerie Templon, marking the artist's first show in Paris since 2016. Our very own Eddie Cooper had the honor of sound designing and mixing a multi-room video installation piece with our friends at Cousins for the gallery, marking Wiley's first foray into the world of video art. The series documents Tahitians of the Māhū community, a Polynesian subgroup that exists on the spectrum of gender—or lack thereof. The exhibit is on view now à Paris until July 20th. Carl's work with 360i on "HBO Westworld: The Maze" was the Webby Winner in Branded Content (Advertising, Media, & PR) AND the People's Voice winner in Best Use of Machine Learning (Advertising, Media, & PR), while Rob's work with Big Sky Edit & McCann on Kesha's "I Need a Woman" music video was the People's Voice winner in Best Editing (Video).
