Buyer beware.
I'm on a forum of other shop owners across the country, and they always advise to drill any bullion that comes in. This was one of those bars that didn't pass the test. XRF will pick this up also. As a consumer, get it validated before purchase. If the seller is in a hurry or it's too good of a deal, let it go.

My hidden treasure box
This is for the gold lovers that like to look at shiny things.

Somewhere these pictures were scrubbed of meta data, posted on a random laptop on a VPN of somewhere under a cabinet, under a carpet, which has safe box that requires a key to open that is somewhere offsite in a combination lockbox hidden in some offsite random place.

So you don't have to count it there's 255oz here.

My 2 year old found this yesterday.
Wife, kiddo, and I were out to dinner and the little one was done after two bites. She crawls under the table, then has something to “show” us. I’m taking to a local, reputable gold dealer to see if it’s real or not. If so, it’ll be her first investment!

Edit: **UPDATE** I took it to the gold shop near my work and he weighed it- exactly 0.5 g. He also tested it and it came back as real! Thanks all for the comments and sharing in the excitement of a fun little find. I don’t own any gold, but this might be the start of collecting for myself (this will go to my daughter when she’s older).

The Reddit says my Gold bar is fake, but my test equipment says it’s real. Who do I believe?
Picked up a $40 bag of “grandma’s jewelry” from a young lady who just wanted it gone. I didn’t even sort through it at the sale — just bought it for bulk. Later I go through it and find: • A quarter-ounce bar tucked in, • 65 grams of 14k gold mixed in, • All on top of the costume jewelry that made the bag look like nothing.

Now here’s the funny part: I buy around 10 ounces of gold every month. I test with professional equipment. I melt. I flip. I do this nonstop. And yet, Reddit experts want to tell me my bar is fake… while my Sigma and XRF say otherwise.

So who should I believe? The equipment that’s paid me week after week, or a bunch of armchair “gold detectives” who can’t imagine that someone actually stumbles into deals like this?

It's lumpy because I don't have the best way of melting the gold dust after precipitation. The black on it is carbon from the graphite crucible.

$2.99 thrift store find - What can I do with this?
Hi all, looking for some advice as someone who knows nothing about gold

Found this chain in a thrift store for $2.99 and had a hunch it might be gold so took the risk. After a closer look it does have a 750 hallmark, along with a star symbol, the number 267 and ‘AR’. Had a google and I think this means it’s Italian, but if anyone could help me an identify further please that would be amazing!

Also wondering what people here would advise I do with it? I don’t have much interest in collecting gold and so would ideally like to sell, but I’m clueless as to value/where to sell/whether to hold on to it for a while - any advice appreciated!

Other info - it’s 6.4g and the chain is 22 inches. the clasp also has a 9ct stamp so I think that’s 9ct while the chain is 18.

Thanks in advance for any advice!
