It was an amazing 14 months for Red Thread, led by Jeff Ertz, to post this film and work with such talented folks. The post infrastructure and remote workflows already in place at Red Thread enabled us to seamlessly complete editorial and deliver the film on time amid all the shutdowns caused by the pandemic.

Red Thread invites you to attend a screening and panel discussion, July 16, hosted by The Feminist Majority Foundation and Ms. Magazine, Girls Learn Internationals, and the Civics Center. Beginning with a live screening of the award-winning documentary, Capturing the Flag, the event is part of a series of events Red Thread is producing for the filmmakers as a tool to drive activation and engagement around voting rights leading up to the election in November.

The film, Capturing the Flag, directed by Anne DeMare and produced by Elizabeth Hemmerdinger and Laverne Berry, is the story of a tight-knit group of friends who travel to Cumberland County, North Carolina – a ‘posterchild’ for voter suppression – intent on proving that the big idea of American democracy can be defended by small acts of individual citizens.

Tonight’s event is moderated by Michele Goodwin, Chancellor’s Professor at University of California Irvine and host of Ms. Magazine’s podcast, On the Issues. More than that, there will be special guest Myrna Pérez, Director of Voting Rights and Elections Program at the Brennan Center for Justice, as well as Laverne Berry, the protagonist in and producer of Capturing the Flag.

Register for the screening here https://www.capturingtheflag.com/register-7-16 and be a part of a truly special evening. Tune in 8pm-10pm ET.

Last night we celebrated David Kennerly and the acquisition of his archive by The University of Arizona and the Center for Creative Photography with the "In The Room" event at Centennial Hall. Great thanks to our team at Red Thread - Art Director Maureen Sternin, Director Phil Allocco and of course my partner in crime Nadine Licostie. This event would not have been possible without the partnership of the University of Arizona / The Center for Creative Photography and event sponsor Bank of America. A special thanks to David and Rebecca Kennerly for trusting us with this special project.
