Tonight! 🎬❄️🐻‍❄️Snow Bears featuring Polar Bear Fest Heide Hatry is screening as part of a special evening with Riverside Park Conservancy and the Climate Film Fest , featuring five short films about people working to make a difference in a changing world!

I’ll be joining the other filmmakers for a Q&A afterward. Looking forward to sharing the films and conversation together!

Honored that “Snow Bears” has been selected as a finalist in the Social Media category for the 2026 Jackson Wild | Hollywood Climate Summit Awards! ❄️🐻‍❄️

The short film follows artist Polar Bear Fest Heide Hatry , known as “Snow Banksy,” as she creates polar bears out of snow to spark conversations about , and inspires New Yorkers to join her.

So grateful to see this little film recognized!

Remembering Barry, the barred owl, on the fifth anniversary of her passing.

Barry appeared in Central Park during COVID and lifted the spirits of many New Yorkers.

I was one of the many people who visited her, watching her perch on a low branch during the day and gathering at dusk to watch her fly out for the night.

This giant clock once topped the Hell Gate Brewery on NYC's Upper East Side, which was the largest brewery in the United States at the time. 🍺🕰️

Surprisingly, it works on the same basic principle as a tiny mechanical watch.

I always enjoy visiting the Horological Society of New York and learning from head librarian Miranda Marraccini, who has a wonderful way of making centuries-old technology feel accessible.

This time, she walked me through how an 1881 E. Howard clock uses a weight, a pendulum, and an escapement to keep perfect time.

There is a firefly that tricks other fireflies by mimicking their mating signals. The female Photuris imitates another species’ unique flash pattern, luring unsuspecting males close enough to become her next meal.

In memory of Dr. James E. Lloyd. I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to interview Dr. Lloyd and share a small part of his remarkable work.

🦖 Gus Rex goes to auction today at Sotheby's.

The 38-foot-long Tyrannosaurus rex has been described as “one of the largest and most complete T. rex skeletons ever found” and could sell for more than $30 million.

Gus was discovered in South Dakota and named after the owner of the land, who had found fossils there for years, but passed away before the excavation was complete.

Interestingly, In the United States, fossils found on private land can legally be privately owned and sold. In some other countries, fossils are considered part of the nation's natural heritage and belong to the government.

I stopped by Sotheby's Geek Week to see Gus Rex up close, along with Apollo artifacts, ancient fossils, and some incredible pieces from the history of science and technology.

Geek Week takes place every July at Sotheby's in New York.
