The Srebrenica massacre 30 years ago marked one of the darkest chapters of the war that followed the breakup of the former Yugoslavia.

More than 8,000 lives were lost, thousands of people were displaced and families and communities were devastated.

Devastating wildfires are sweeping across northern Latakia, Syria.

1,900 families have been affected, with many more still at risk. Homes, farmland and vital infrastructure have been destroyed, and over 3% of Syria’s total forest cover have been lost.

The UN and its humanitarian partners have swiftly mobilized to support affected communities, providing emergency shelter, food, health services and firefighting assistance.
