The AIDS crisis stole an entire generation of q***r people and with them, countless stories we never got to hear.

There’s only so much I can fit into a three-minute review, and there’s a much bigger history sitting underneath Elsinore.

So many gay men died. So many lives, careers, friendships, stories, and futures were lost along with q***r elders who should still be here.

Ian Charleson died in 1990, and asked that it be publicly shared after his death that he had died from AIDS. At a time when the disease was surrounded by enormous stigma and fear.

So many of the q***r stories we get to see onstage and onscreen today exist because people before us were brave enough to be visible, to tell the truth, and to make sure their lives weren’t erased.

That’s part of why movies like this matter.

Not just because they preserve the memory of one extraordinary actor, but because they help us remember the people and stories that history tried very hard to silence.

We have to keep telling these stories. ❤️

It’s TIFF Days 5–8 ✨🎬🇨🇦

My second half of TIFF included red carpet interviews, three movie premieres (including People’s Choice winners La Bola Negra and Elsinore), an entire day devoted to all things YAGA, a visit to the Getty Images portrait gallery, the launch of IMDb pro for creators and SO many little moments I still can’t quite believe happened.

HUGE shoutout to Michael Rubinoff for hosting me (and letting me hold your Olivier) and making it possible for me to extend the trip because I simply refused to leave TIFF.

Thank you TikTok Creators & Toronto!!! I’m so grateful for every opportunity, every movie, and every person I met along the way. 🥹

A week so amazing I had to split it into TWO 😅✌️🎞️

TIFF DAYS 1–4!!! Opening night of the festival, SEVEN premieres, celebrating Season 2 of North of North, getting a look at Toronto’s new Criterion media store, new friends, old friends and fitting an absolutely unreasonable number of movies into four days.

Forever grateful to TikTok Creators for bringing me to TIFF and letting me be part of such an incredible cohort of creators. Truly could not have asked for a better group of people to experience this week with.💜
