NYC is always vulnerable to hurricanes and major storms. As Hurricane Henri approached in August 2021, the city began preparing for possible damage and power outages. In an August '21 NY1 interview, Alfonso Quiroz discussed preparations, including bringing in 1,500 mutual-aid workers from across the country. “These are very serious storms,” he warned, urging New Yorkers to prepare and stay away from downed power lines.

Dad talked about his years working at Pullman-Standard, some of the artifacts he saved, and what it means to still be living in the company town that’s now Pullman National Historical Park.
