Party At Mothers Productions - "Bodega?" Feb 24th This documentary asks Bodega owners, their staff, and their suppliers what their dreams are and what version of the American Dream they are looking to fulfill. During the pursuit of answering these questions, we are seeking to understand the relationship

"Bodega?" is premiering February 24th at Saint Vitus located in Greenpoint Brooklyn. Film, Music, and fun! All proceeds go to Puerto Rico Hurricane Relief. This documentary asks what is the future of Bodegas, their owners, their staff, and their suppliers. During the pursuit of answering this question, we are seeking to understand how the corner bodega went from a mini mart on the corner to a all needs health store. What is the relationship between the people behind counter, and the people that they are serving non-stop - the ever-growing "hipster" population. In order to properly research this question we need to get both sides. As for MDOP -We are a selection of artists focused on the music scene, both past and contemporary. Our connections within multiple public relations and management firms associated with the entertainment industry allow for intimate access to a variety of acclaimed musicians. This rare privilege afforded to our platoon of writers, photographers, graphic designers and illustrators strategically located coast-to-coast allows them to provide an array of content which would otherwise be impossible to access. With the fast-paced and ever evolving environment of the music scene our artists are frequently working on multiple projects simultaneously. Content of these projects includes Artist Interviews, Show/Album Reviews, Ticket/Gear Giveaways and Featured Publications, most recently: the first authorized autobiography of The Dandy Warhols

Mission: To pick up where Lewis & Clarke left off.

Bodega Love (Prod. by DJ DNA)

I hope this sad news doesn't back you up like ELVIS PRESLEY on Christmas but DJ DNA's phat track "Bodega Love" will not be featured on "Bodega Love" soundtrack.

Here is a taste of the outstanding talent that have been currently approached by David Abts and are considering to create "Bodega Love" film score. To make sure the audience receives the highest standard of quality in this musical arrangement film placement; supervisor Denny Swofford has been hired. You can check out Denny's resume here at http://www.imdb.com/name/nm3588734/?ref_=nv_sr_1

Here are some of the talented acts on B.L's radar Jacuzzi Boys, Streets of Laredo, The Dandy Warhols, Daniel John Riddle, Immigrant Union, Kalen Lister, Marco Benevento, Brian Buta, L.A. Mood, Giants In The Trees, Joyce Raskin, Dani Mari, Will Hanza & Falco Rock me Amadeus.

Did I mention that Jack Feldstein has been commissioned to create animation? As those Aussies say "legend!" Here check out his work http://www.jackfeldstein.com/

You may wonder why such a selection and what do these bands have in common with Brooklyn Bodegas? This is a small strand of sounds of what the transplants/hipsters population would be listening to in their Beats by Dre headphones as they make their morning coffee & bagel stop before jumping on the train for work. For better or worse, totally missing what the shop keepers are listening to.

Stay tuned for a teaser trailer to be released in the coming weeks. The film is slated to premier at SXSW 2018.

Precisely Why Is Bodega, the Start-up, Such a Terrible Idea?

We just had another strong week of filming/recording material for "Bodega Love". articles like this one below tell me it is about time to share what we have learned of these hard working Bodega Owners and their surrounding environment . In some cases working that same counter since the Reagan Administration with patrons that dig little Debbie's/Colt45 with others preferring the assortment of delightfully fresh Brazilian nuts/Gluten free suds. Finding that relationships have been forged that go way beyond vender/consumer to a bond that is blind to race, color and religion.

With a goal to be in the SXSW 2018 mix.

We will be finished filming by November 1st after kickoff that occurred almost two years but before our extremely talented editor, sound director and animator jump onto the dance floor. For this final push Please do not hesitate to contact me directly If you like to share your own personal experience or you have a corner bodega or natures nest that has some magic to sprinkle onto this picture.

I am not going into detail now but the bands who make up "Bodega Love" soundtrack. It is fawking rockstarr* to the tenth power.

Feel free to check out our listing on www.imdb.com -> "Bodega Love"

It is anti-city, anti-sharing, anti-kitteh.

'The Founder': Film Review

"Of all the troubled, compromised and problematic characters Keaton has played in the course of his recent career resurgence, Ray Kroc, like a crocodile — "but not spelled that way," per the song by Knopfler — may be the most disturbing."

Dan Turk & I are ready to be disturbed; we are lining up opening night to see this program. I will have a QB meal hidden in my hat to enjoy during the screening and I am sure Dan will have some Japanese Power Shake made from the roots of Ash*taba.

Hedhead - The New Yorker

We are branching out alittle bit this summer; and we have interviews lined up with some Make Up Artists this month for LADYGUNN.

One of the subjects is Mike Potter, the wig and makeup designer for Hedwig and the Angry Inch—the HIT Broadway musical that is about to launch a US tour. This artist is award winning and just about the best in the industry. I am really excited to get the inside scoop in this scene.

Thursday June 30th we have our first press pass to Carnegie Hall to see Tania Stavreva play. She is one of the more talented vocalist & pianist in NYC. Thanks to a mutual friend she slipped me on the very tight guest list! This is going to be a new experience.

In the meanwhile check out some of Mike Potter's previous press...

We have this MIG in our crosshairs. What Gretchen Grace has to offer is off the charts. Supporting the scene is pulse grabbing when art producing wave riders like this are on the radar.

Taken from one of her promos:

"Back in 2008, I was photographing old dolls using a medium-format camera. The dolls had such soulful eyes, I was sure they were trying to tell me their stories. Messy Hair is the first of these stories to be published. It tells the story of two dolls and their unruly, hair-taming adventure. I hope you will enjoy it!

Messy Hair is now available at Sock Monkey Press, as well as the following locations:

Community Bookstore, 143 7th Avenue, Brooklyn

BookCourt, 163 Court Street, Brooklyn

Grumpy Bert, 82 Bond Street, Brooklyn

The GRAMMYs are approaching us faster than Daniel-San's finishing Crane kick to the face; Feb.15th! My wife, Elizabeth A. Abts Photography, works for Us Weekly so I am forced to watch ALL these programs during "Award Season". Screen Actors Guild Awards, The Academy, Critic's Choice Awards, etc. Some of these programs I rather pass a stone then watch. But the Grammys this year will be really exciting because courtney barnett has been nominated for "Best New Artist"!!!!

I am telling you Australia might be the hottest scene right now on Mother Earth!!! Not just courtney barnett, but there is plenty of other acts also worth giving a spin over a glass of red and a box of bon bons for example Immigrant Union, Perch Creek, King Lizzard, The Basics, Raindrop, Bec and Ben, The Bamboos, Angus and Julia Stone, Hill Top Hoods, The Jungle Giants & we can't forget about the classics INXS & Silverchair that paved the way and inspired some of these first class rockers .

The piece below was published in Rock on Philly with artwork by @bob howl that includes interviews with some of the talent that is down under.

Its been over a week that David Bowie left the planet! I am sure if you follow our MDOP FB page you are the kind of person that gave D.B's final album "Blackstar" a spin. I must say, that I was really impressed with the album. I would love to hear your thoughts.

My folks collect art, one of my favorite pieces is a work that they have hanging in the dinner room. Its a Lithograph 129/500 made of Andy Warhol's "After the party of 1979". I would like to think that table mess was made by Warhol, Lennon, Minnelli & Bowie.

A great summer for musical bio pictures!

What I have learned from both these films, Paul Giamatti can play one a##hole of a manager. If you a artist and you see him walking into your office to represent you. Grab the nearest Banana Cream Pie and throw it at him.

Lets take N.W.A Music's bio pic Straight Outta Compton, tight writing with powerful dramatic scenes mixed in come comical moments. As expected with Dr Dre being the exec.producer and being on set every day of filming he is made him out to be Archangel Gabriel and the Carebear of Gangster Rap. For the Second Act of the film its too bad that Ice Cube was more of a secondary character, honestly I find his life story more interesting to have "learned" about over Dre, The third act kind of dragged out and find the burying the hatchet between Eazy-E & and the other members to be alittle sunshine induced. I open a splash for this picture.

Second film is Brian Wilson's of The Beach Boys mid life career picture Love & Mercy. This was summer surprise for me! I fond John Cusack taking the surfboard of B.W to be very impressive. It makes me want to read more about this music legend and the genius behind Pet Sounds. I was really worried that it would be a Con Air performance by J.C but I think he did for B.W what Val Kilmer did for Jim Morrison in 1991 Oliver Stone picture The Doors. No Oscars here but I walked away wanting more. I open a splash to this picture.

Tory ministers have saved an iconic gay bar once visited by Princess Diana

We are in the middle of producing a profile piece/interview about Chris Constantinou to be published in Rock on Philly.

Chris veteran of the London punk rock and the 80's London New wave music when he joined up with Adam Ant's outfit. One of his career highlights was he opened up for Queen at Live Aid. Which is on many people's list as one of the biggest moments in Rock & Roll History.

In my research, I came across this iconic gaRy bar in London. Legend has it that Freddie Mercury & Kenny Everett sneaked Princess Diana in drag to enjoy a stiff and fruity splash! It was going to be torn down, but patrons such as Ian McKellen came to the rescue.

Princess Diana once reportedly visited the 153-year-old pub with Freddie Mercury - but it's been at the centre of a planning row since last year
