A Personal Family Loss: Syeda Bano Rizvi, Sister of Dr. Ammar Rizvi, Passes Away

With deep sadness, I share the news of the passing of Syeda Bano Rizvi, younger sister of former Acting Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Dr. Ammar Rizvi, following a brief illness in Lucknow.

This is not simply a news story for me. It is a personal loss to our family as well.

My heartfelt condolences to Ammar Chacha, her son Yasir Rizvi and the entire Rizvi family.

May Allah grant her eternal peace and give the family Sabr and strength.

Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un.

QUESTIONS MOUNT AHEAD OF NJ-7 CONGRESSIONAL DEBATE

Questions about Rep. Tom Kean Jr.’s access to the press and his congressional record are receiving renewed attention as the NJ-7 race moves toward a Sept. 27 debate with Democratic challenger Rebecca Bennett.

News 12 says it has repeatedly invited Kean to appear for an interview. The New Jersey Democratic Party has now raised questions involving Gateway funding, congressional stock transactions, the Epstein files and Kean’s votes concerning Iran.

But the details matter.

TIO reviewed the major claims against the public record and found that some of the Democratic Party’s statements require additional context.

I Still Remember Asifa! She should never be forgotten.

I still weep for this little girl.
Eight-year-old Asifa should have been playing, going to school and growing up surrounded by love. Instead, according to the chargesheet in the case, she was kidnapped, repeatedly sedated and gang r***d, held inside a Hindu temple a sacred place of worship, brutally murdered, then her face was crushed to make her unrecognizable.

Years have passed, but I do not want her name to disappear.

I don’t remember Asifa because she was Muslim. I remember her because she was a child. A child who deserved protection, dignity and a future.

No temple, mosque, church or any other place of worship should ever become a place of terror. And no religion should be blamed for the crimes of individuals. What we must condemn is the crime, the cruelty, the abuse of power and every attempt to hide the truth.

As a journalist, I believe remembering is also a form of justice.

Asifa must not be forgotten.

I wrote about her case for The India Observer in 2018. I am sharing it again because some stories must never be allowed to disappear.
