FDNY gathered at Greater St. Stephen United Church of God in Brooklyn to lay to rest fire Lieutenant Elbert Washington.

On Monday, family, friends, and members of the FDNY gathered at Greater St. Stephen United Church of God in Brooklyn to lay to rest Lieutenant Elbert Washington.

Lt. Washington joined the FDNY in 1973 and went on to serve 25 years, becoming the first Black firefighter assigned to a rescue company. He worked at Rescue 2 for 11 years. A trailblazer, mentor, and former president of the Vulcan Society, his legacy of service and leadership will continue to inspire generations to come.

All:

We regret to pass on that NY LifeNet Flight Paramedic Kevin Robert suffered a fatal heart attack, losing his life in the Line of Duty while treating a patient in flight on Wednesday night.

PM Robert was on board a LifeNet flight with a patient, flight nurse and pilot, bound for Albany Med when it happened. The helicopter immediately diverted to Saratoga Hospital, but they couldn’t save Robert’s life.

PM Robert dedicated his life to serving others as a paramedic and fire service member.

Saratoga County EMS said his legacy will live on in the countless lives he saved, the colleagues he mentored and the organization he helped to build.

Robert served in various fire and emergency medical services – mostly recently at Malta-Stillwater Ambulance. He also taught in the Paramedic program at Hudson Valley Community College and was a member of several area fire-rescue services as well.

Our Condolences to all those affected. Rest In Peace.

Take care. Be careful. Pass it on.
