People ask me: Why do I need content? How does it work? Where does it live? Why does it matter? I wish I could tell you that you can just find new customers based on the fabulosity of your product, sharp packaging and unique value proposition. But that just won't cut it in today's digital world.
Google is built on zillions of little electronic spiders "crawling" content and finding exactly what people are searching for (which it calls "relevance"), discovered through key words such as "Best Yoga Tights" or "Top GPS Dog Tracker Collars" ... or "Best Caviar for the Price" then fetching the most relevant and popular answers and information for the person doing the search.
If you're not offering up relevant content that provides helpful information and answers to the most urgent questions being asked right now, then your potential customer's search ends up finding the other guy or gal. Game over.
Create great content that offers advice and answers, tips and helpful hints and relevant information -- and you win. Make it helpful, full of useful, practical advice. This is what Google calls EEAT, which stands for Expertise, Experience, Authoritative and Trustworthiness.
Want to start selling? First start helping your potential customers live better lives. Give them advice. Then give them the reason to buy your product!
