Harlem made history on Saturday — did you know? 👀
Marcus Garvey Park is officially on the National Register of Historic Places. The park that hosted "Black Woodstock" in 1969, where the Last Poets first spoke Malcolm X's name into a microphone — finally getting its flowers.
Saturday at the Richard Rodgers Amphitheater: Senator Cordell Cleare, Council Member Yusef Salaam, and the NYC Parks Historic Harlem Parks team took the mic. Craig Harris and his band filled the air with live jazz. Thurgood Marshall Academy brought the step. Storytellers carried the legacy forward.
If you're hearing about this for the first time right now — that's exactly why Look at Harlem exists. Our Events Calendar is about to make sure you never miss a Harlem moment again. It's filling up — stay close so you're first to know what's next. 📅
Some of Saturday's images just made it into the Look at Harlem Gallery — curating Harlem, its people, and its businesses for the future and the legacy of our rich community.
