Look, people keep saying I have a "problem." I don't have a problem. I have observations, and I share them. Loudly. Here's how this week went.
It started in the patrol car. The man asked why I insist on coming along on every shift, and I reminded him about the sunglasses. The ones on his head. That he looked for. For twenty minutes. His partner had to break it to him. I simply pointed out that Stevie Wonder would have found them faster, and suddenly I'm the difficult one.
Then came the video call, which I attended as a concerned citizen. One woman's cozy living room was flickering at the edges like a stock photo, and Steve claimed to be on a tropical beach. Steve lives in Ohio. Everyone on that call was lying, so I said what we were all thinking: this meeting is fake news.
Court was next. They wanted me to describe the night in question. I wanted to describe the judge's tie, because that thing looked like a crime scene and the jury deserved to know. Testimony can wait. Fashion cannot.
At home, a man came through the door furious that I told his wife he was at the bar. He had informed her he was at book club. I am not responsible for the gap between those two statements. I ruined his night? No. His choices ruined his night. I was simply nearby with excellent hearing.
And then they had the nerve to accuse me of threatening a witness. Those were not threats. Those were facts. I have friends in very high places — trees, mostly — and we are extremely accurate. On windshields. On fresh laundry. On anything you love. Just something to keep in mind next time you vote.
