Netflix is taking us back to the story behind one of television’s most beloved characters. ❤️
The streaming giant has announced a three-part documentary titled The One About Matthew Perry, arriving October 27, just one day before the third anniversary of his death.
The documentary will explore Perry’s life beyond Chandler Bing — from his early days as a young comedian trying to make it in Hollywood to becoming one of the most recognizable and loved stars in the world.
At the heart of the project is his sister, Mia Perry Bowick, who says it took time before she felt ready to share her memories and talk openly about what it was like to love Matthew through every chapter of his life.
She wants people to remember him as a whole person — not simply as Chandler, and not simply through the struggles he faced. She describes him as someone with a beautiful heart and generous spirit, who could still make people laugh and feel loved even during his most difficult moments.
The Perry family has also opened its private archives, meaning the documentary will feature never-before-seen photographs and videos from Matthew’s life.
Directed by Emmy winner Mary Robertson, the series aims to look beyond the public image and show the man who made millions laugh, feel connected and, as Robertson put it, feel a little less alone. 🥹❤️
