In Trance 95’s debut album Code of Obsession arrives digitally for the first time — June 9th.
Originally released in 1990 on the Wipe Out! label, the album was recorded by Alex Machairas and Nik Veliotis in Athens using portable analogue synthesizers — making them one of the only purely electronic acts to come out of Greece in the ‘80s. The seven original tracks blend minimal synth, early EBM, and industrial textures into something that remains singular to this day.
This expanded digital edition includes four additional recordings available here for the first time.

Men With Secrets – “The Tower”
from the forthcoming LP Sand Clock (out April 21st)

Cititrax presents “The Tower,” a striking new recording from Men With Secrets — the Italian trio of Donato Dozzy, Lino Monaco, and Nicola Buono (Retina.it). Emerging from their earlier experimental project Le Officine Di Efesto, the group channels the stark spirit of classic minimal wave, post-punk, and synth-driven pop through a contemporary lens.

Driven by icy synthesizers, pulsing drum machines, and intimate baritone vocals, “The Tower” captures the shadowed tension, hypnotic rhythms and melancholic melodies that define Sand Clock.

Written and produced by Donato Dozzy, Lino Monaco, and Nicola Buono.
Recorded in Rome and Pompeii.

Our sublabel Cititrax is honored to announce Sand Clock, the new full-length album by Men With Secrets — the Italian trio of , , and (). Emerging from their experimental techno roots as Le Officine Di Efesto, the group turned toward classic post-punk, minimal wave, and synth-driven pop with the formation of Men With Secrets. Their debut album Psycho Romance (2020), released on The Bunker, introduced a meticulously crafted work that felt unearthed from early-1980s European darkwave — yet was entirely contemporary.

With Sand Clock, the trio deepen this language. The album leans into the melodic clarity and romantic tension of late-80s and early-90s darkwave and synthpop while maintaining the stark restraint that defines the project. Icy synthesizers, shuddering basslines, and precise drum machine programming frame baritone vocals that feel intimate, emotionally exposed, and quietly apocalyptic.

Balancing pop structure with gothic atmosphere, Sand Clock moves between shadowed dance floor momentum and solitary headphone introspection. This is not revivalism, but continuation — an acknowledgment that the emotional architecture of that era remains unresolved and still relevant. Written and produced in Rome and Pompeii in 2023.

Clear 160-gram vinyl, limited to 500 copies worldwide.

A rare archival performance by .trance.95

Formed in Greece in 1988, Alex Machairas and Nik Veliotis emerged as pioneering figures in the country’s minimal synth, wave, and early electronic body music scene, establishing a stark and enduring electronic language through analog synthesis and voice.

Filmed at Universe Multivenue and directed by as part of Stages A/LIVE, this performance exists as both document and reactivation—historical sound re-embodied in the present. Analog machines, once confined to tape, are returned to physical space, their tonal architecture unfolding in real time under controlled light and environment.

Premiering Sunday, February 22 on the .stegi YouTube Channel.

Tona Walt Ohama grew up on a potato farm in rural Alberta, where his fascination with sound began early. As a teen on his way to judo practice, he stumbled upon a synthesizer in a local shop, bought it instantly, and became obsessed with its strange, otherworldly tones. Inspired by John Foxx, he soon added a ½″ 8-track reel-to-reel recorder to his setup — and began building his world beneath his parents’ potato farm in Rainier, Alberta.

From that underground studio, Ohama crafted futuristic, paranoid, deeply human synthpop. In the early ’80s, he released records on his own Midnite News Music label, selling them through local shops and mail order to fans worldwide. Live, he performed alone with a reel-to-reel tape player and provocative props; his video for My Time aired on MuchMusic, and his debut LP I Fear What I Might Hear climbed the Canadian alternative charts.

Blending found sounds — barking dogs, lapping waves, TV static — with cynical lyrics, Ohama explored paranoia, media, and isolation. Ever the media-skeptic, he offered two solutions: watch TV with the sound down and add your own soundtrack, or, more directly, “put a hockey stick through your TV.”

In 2012, Minimal Wave released The Potato Farm Tapes. The last copies of that LP are now available.
