Dog Days of Summer: Rowdy the Dachshund | Street Art | Sold Magazine

As we continue to celebrate the artist's that create work on the street here on Sold Magazine, we aim to honor those who appreciate the art as well. Headed straight into the Dog Days of Summer 2019, we are kicking off a new series of Canine Street Art Appreciators! Cool cats get an entire day of dedication with Caturday, and many artists incorporate their feline friends into their work; but the pooches get the in person interaction on their daily walks (or rides), around their neighborhood. Meet Rowdy the Dachshund, today's daily dose is for the dogs! (Featured art: Tetris Wai )

Eyez on a Park Slope Charter School | Street Art | Sold Magazine

A lovely lady approached me at this year's Welling Court Mural Project block party, and told me a story about Peat Wollaeger that I had to bring to Sold Magazine. For all of the big budget, large scale projects going up around us in NYC, this is a story that would go unheard. A science teacher, a stencil artist, and an entire school created something for the people of their community, and our EYEZ have been opened!

Peat Wollaeger AKA "EYEZ" has been a huge contribution to the Welling Court Mural Project ever since he met Garrison Buxton at Art Basel Miami 9 years ago

The collab wall on the King of Queens Auto Body Shop for the Welling Court Mural Project has been a focal point of the turnover, and has been conquered the last few years because of total teamwork. Marc Evan 113 is a pivotal part of how the team gets things accomplished. There is no I in team, and there is no I in Marc Evan. Every Fall, fall in love with this super dad's pumpkin carving skills on the Food Network's Halloween Wars, a thriving seasonal business for him & Chris Soria. PRIDE: A Time to Celebrate (and Protest) | Street Art | Sold Magazine

Over the past 50 years, the LGBTQ community has fought for equal rights (and continues to do so). On this anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, many artworks have been created this month in an effort to celebrate the achievements made and as a form of protest for those rights that have yet to be attained. The World Pride Mural Project has created 50 murals within the boroughs of New York City, the site of this year’s celebration. Curated by The LISA Project NYC together with funding partner HSBC and NYC Pride, they brought in artists from around the world to create works to honor the LGBTQ movement. In addition, at the grassroots level, @dustyrebel worked with artists to create ‘unapologetically-queer street art”. Our contributor John Dominé bring you images of the art created and shares stories from many ofthe artists. Today’s daily dose comes wrapped in a rainbow! Happy Pride!

Let’s go on a psychedelic ride with the debut graphic novel, BICYCLE DAY, the true story of the discovery of LSD by BRIAN BLOMERTH. To celebrate the release, there’s a party tonight at Head Hi, from 7-9PM! BICYCLE DAY recounts the events of April 19, 1943, when a Swiss “mystic chemist” Albert Hofmann intentionally took an experimental dose and embarked on the world’s first ever acid trip. The event is free and if you want to have your copy signed, listen to some tunes or have a drink, come on down! Head Hi is located at 14 Clermont Ave. Brooklyn, NY.

Spurred on by the monumental Stonewall Riots in 1969, June has served as Pride Month for the LGBTQ+ community for 50 years. Dear Yellow: I’ve recently started dating a man that I like and not too long ago he referred to me as his girlfriend for the first time. In the dream, he sits me down to tell me he doesn’t really want me to be his girlfriend, then breaks up with me. I realize it is just a dream but for some reason I can’t shake it.
