A TRIBUTE TO PETER YARROW: HONORING A FOLK LEGEND THROUGH THE LENS OF VIDEO DESTINATION:

This week, the world of music and storytelling bids a heartfelt farewell to Peter Yarrow, the legendary folk artist who, alongside Noel (Paul) Stookey and Mary Travers, formed the iconic trio Peter, Paul & Mary. Their timeless music became the soundtrack for movements of peace, love, and justice, influencing generations and leaving an indelible mark on folk history.

At Video Destination, we had the unique honor of playing a small role in celebrating Peter Yarrow’s incredible legacy. In collaboration with The Metropolitan Museum of Art, we were tasked with capturing an intimate interview and performance featuring Peter Yarrow and Noel (Paul) Stookey. The project was a labor of love, that combined artistry, technology, and a deep respect for the lives and work of these remarkable musicians.

Technology Behind the Scenes: Capturing the Legacy of Folk Music
We chose the 4K Canon C300 MKIII cinema line of cameras paired with DZOFilm Pictor Zoom lenses. The scene was lit using the Aputure 600c Pros with the 3' Lanterns and Nanlite PavoTube II 30c. All the footage was recorded in C-Log 2 and color-corrected in DaVinci Resolve.

The interviews were captured using Sennheiser G4 bodypacks equipped with ME 2 Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphones, while the live performance’s sound was handled by the MET staff.

As we reviewed the footage, we were reminded of the profound simplicity and authenticity that Peter Yarrow brought to his craft. His songs were more than melodies; they were calls to action and expressions of hope. From "Blowin' in the Wind" to "Puff, the Magic Dragon," Peter’s voice became a vessel for storytelling that bridged generations.

Final Reflections
At Video Destination, we are deeply grateful for the opportunity to contribute to preserving this legacy. We extend our deepest condolences to Peter’s family, friends, and countless fans around the world. His music may have come to an end, but his voice will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who listen.

Thank you to The Metropolitan Museum of Art for trusting us with this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and thank you, Peter Yarrow, for inspiring generations with your courage, compassion, and creativity.

May your music forever echo in the wind.
