What a delightful gift to find wrapped up under the tree. Congrats on publication, Erica! (Or should we say, Lucy).

Time of Death is officially on sale today! I'm so happy that I get to share Frankie's story with the world. I know so many amazing nurses - including my little sister - that writing about a smart, dedicated, compassionate nurse doesn't feel like fiction at all. (But don't worry -- the murder mystery part is totally made up!)

Thanks to all of you for your kindness and support - I can't wait to hear what you think!

Head over to Stop, You’re Killing Me! for a giveaway of Barbara Early's DEATH OF A TOY SOLDIER!

GIVEAWAY: DEATH OF A TOY SOLDIER by Barbara Early (Crooked Lane Books 2016)
Liz McCall grew up in a playful winter wonderland, but it was never her dream to manage her father’s vintage toyshop. However, after he sank his entire police pension into the business, someone needed to help him turn his dreams into reality — and keep him from sneaking off to patrol the not-so-mean streets of East Aurora, New York. The mood goes from nice to naughty when a nervous man, who was trying to have his antique toys appraised, is found in the shop with a lawn dart through his chest. Suddenly, Liz’s business plan is plunged into deep freeze, while she and her father find themselves toying with a cold-blooded killer who’s playing for keeps. Now, it looks like Christmas might be cancelled for the neighborhood kids if Liz can’t wrap up the case. Thanks to Heather Boak of Crooked Lane Books, we have five hadcover copies of this series opener to give away.

Review for 'A Desperate Place' by Jennifer Greer Read and reviewed via NetGalley for Crooked Lane Books This is the first book that I have read by this author and it is actually her first and only book at the moment. It is the first book in the 'McKenna and Riggs' series. You can preorder this book on Amazon now ready for release on 11th August 2020. I was originally drawn to this book by its intriguing blurb. I am also a massive Tess Gerritsen fan and when I read that is is "Perfect for fans of Tess Gerritsen's Rizzoli & Isles" I just had to give it a go! I have also read several books published by Crooked Lane that I have enjoyed so was hoping this would be one added to that list (written before I read the book). Well after reading this book I must say it certainly didn't disappoint! This novel consists of 36 chapters and an epilogue of medium length. The story is presented from the points of view of medical examiner detective Katie Riggs and journalist Whit Mckenna and is set in Oregon. I loved that you get to see what is going on from both a detective and journalistic point of view as it is normally one or the other due to strained relationships. between both sides. It ensures that you get a complete picture of what is going on. Well I must say what an explosive start to what promises to be an exciting new series that I am excited to read more of! The plot jumped straight into the action and immediately gripped my attention and continued to do so straight through until the nail biting, heart racing and unpredictable ending!! I love the fact that I thought I knew what was going on just to have a massive unexpected twist thrown in. Well done! There's nothing worse than working out what's going on when your less than half way through a crime novel! I loved the characters and especially the fact that there were 2 really strong female leading characters. I definitely agree that fans of Rizzoli and Isles will love this!! There's more and more books coming out with strong female leads but not many that have two and it was pulled off really well. I must say all the characters in this novel were all very strong and realistic. I especially enjoyed Dr. Weldon's twisted sense of humour!! I really enjoyed the friendship between Katie and Whit and again how procedures are followed shines through with their career "clashes". I believe that Jennifer Greer did quite alot of research into police procedures as well as medical research and it really shines through! Although quite grotesque I was intrigued with the teratoma tumours as I have never heard of them and I did a bit of research myself. Learn something new every day! Thank you for teaching me something new! I, personally, think that the plot has a very unique storyline which is an excellent achievement for an authors first novel, congratulations! I believe this book will be a fantastic success. This novel is very well written with events all flowing together perfectly and descriptions that really put you in the plot next to the characters. Filled with suspense, drama, murder, friendships, crime, action this is an excellent thriller that I highly recommend to fans of all the above as well as Tess Gerritsen, psychological thrillers and police procedurals. Overall an explosive start to what promises to be an exciting new series. Very well written, excellent characters and a massive congratulations to Jennifer Greer for an A*** first novel. I'm looking forward to reading more of your books!!! Genres include crime, mystery, thriller, police procedural, action, drama, fiction and suspense. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a good book, fans of Tess Gerritsen, murder, mystery, crime, suspense, thrillers, police procedurals, drama and action! Basically, everyone! £10.36 to preorder on kindle via Amazon. Rated 5/5 ( I LOVED IT) on Goodreads, Instagram, Amazon UK and Amazon US and on over 30 pages plus my blog on Facebook. Feel free to add me on Goodreads for more reviews #ADesperatePlace #JenniferGreer #CrookedLaneBooks #NetGalley #BookReview @JenniferGreer @CrookedLaneBooks @Bookworm1986 https://m.facebook.com/Bookworm1986/?ref=bookmarks
Review for 'Murder At Hotel 1911' by Audrey Keown Read and reviewed via NetGalley for Crooked Lane Books. This title will be available to purchase on August 11th. This is the first book that I have read by this author. I am looking forward to reading more of her work. This book sucked me straight into the storyline from the start and kept me turning pages until the ending. A very interesting crime novel. A fantastic cosy mystery that I read in a few spaced out hours filled with murder, mystery, red herrings and crime. A true page turner. THE book is very well written and I found it was very descriptive throughout really putting me in the scene. THE characters were all very compelling and well rounded as well as (mainly) likeable, realistic and strong. I would love to read more books with these characters in!! I thought I really had worked out the 'who dunnit' and am very pleased to reveal that I was wrong!! This is always a bonus as it puts me off books where I have already worked out what was going on or who did what. I recommend this book to fans of crime and murder mysteries. 272 pages £10.44 to purchase on kindle. I think this is a ridiculous price for any ebook and unfortunately, even though I loved this book, I would never pay that... Hopefully it will come out at a much more reasonable price. Rated 5/5 ( I loved it ) on Goodreads, Instagram, Amazon UK and Amazon.Com and on over 30 pages plus my blog on Facebook. Feel free to add me on Goodreads for more reviews #MurderAtHotel1911 #AudreyKeown #CrookedLaneBooks #NetGalley #BookReview https://m.facebook.com/Bookworm1986/?ref=bookmarks
We could use some new Kitty Couture mysteries during quarantine 🐱❤🙂
Murder From Scratch is the fourth book in the Sally Solari Series by Leslie Karst. This is a really good, enjoyable mystery. Sally is no longer practicing law and is now running a successful restaurant called Gauguin. When her blind cousin Evelyn’s mother is murdered, Sally is drawn into finding out who the murderer is. This author never disappoints in writing a good mystery filled with relatable, likable, warm characters including all the elements of a good mystery. It is an easy enjoyable read and readers will also find their mouths watering as they read about all the wonderful food offered at Sally’s restaurant and the recipes included at the back of the book. For me personally, I thought it was great and rated it a five.
Congratulations on your Agatha nominations!
Up at KRL we have reviews and giveaways of 4 books that all tie in to books with their settings-bookstores and libraries-"Bound for Murder": A Blue Ridge Library Mystery by Victoria Gilbert, "Verse and Vengeance": A Magical Bookshop Mystery by Amanda Flower, "Bookmarked for Murder": Mystery Bookshop series by VM Burns, and "There’s a Murder Afoot": A Sherlock Holmes Bookshop Mystery by Vicki Delany
I was fortunate to receive an ARC of Roz's first book, Our Little Secret, which I absolutely loved and added the author to my “must read” list. So when I saw this book, Hurry Home, available I promptly requested and am so glad I got to read it. The story is expertly told alternating view points from two sisters, Alexandra “Alex, and Ruth. There is a lot of history and drama and so many secrets. Just when you think it’s all coming to a head, you get thrown a curve ball that sends you spinning down another momentous track, all the way to the very end. It was an exciting thrill ride and one that will leave you eager for Roz’s future writings. Thank you #NetGalley, and #CrookedLaneBooks for this wonderful ARC.
Please have more Kitty Couture and Christmas Tree Farm mysteries. Thanks ❤❤
