Jon Batiste gave a moving tribute to late Latin music icon Eddie Palmieri — who died two weeks ago at the age of 88 of an extended illness — during his concert at Central Park’s SummerStage.

The Grammy-winning artist paid his respects during the finale of his show at Rumsey Playfield, calling up members of Palmieri’s band — including Jeremy Bosch, Louis Fouché and Zaccai Curtis — to perform several songs in celebration of Palmieri’s legacy.

Last Night Jon Batiste Rocked the Park with his “surprise “ performance at SummerStage in Central Park presently our Partners City Parks Foundation! Dressed in an iconic Ring masters coat. Jon welcomed  everyone to his circus complete with jugglers, hola hoop artist, and contortionist. Billed as Jon Batiste and Friends - there were 8 musicians and over 17 Friends - Highlighting music from his soon to be released new album BIG MONEY. The concert included Jon’s original compositions, New Orleans Zydeco, Jazz, R&B, and classical. His set included himself on solo piano accompanied by his voice… And there was so much more!!
