NOW ON SoundCloud (https://soundcloud.com/german-a-santana/caribe-latino-08-25-2026):

German Santana, Louis Laffitte & Keith Thomas join forces again to pay tribute to the musical legacy of conguero, arranger and living legend Frankie Colon, who just celebrated his 95th birthday a few days ago. Frankie is one of the most overlooked, yet significant musicians to emerge from the late 1940s NYC Latin music scene. He was a founding member of Tito Puente's initial conjunto, and one of two musicians to have created recorded arrangements for the Big 3 (Tito Puente, Tito Rodriguez & Machito) of the Palladium era. We will also acknowledge the birthday of the late, great Graciela Pérez Gutiérrez, known to most by her first name of Graciela. She was the sister of Frank "Machito" Grillo, who along with Mario Bauza were some of the most important figures in the lineage of Afro Cuban Jazz music.
