Stanley and Ollie have been hired to paint a wall, but their simple little job has already turned into a complete disaster. ????????

Stan: “Ollie, I think the paint is going on very nicely.”

Ollie: “Stanley, you just painted my face!”

Stan: “Oh, did I?”

Ollie: “YES! Look at me!”

Stan: “I think it suits you.”

Ollie: “It does NOT suit me!”

Stan: “Perhaps you should sit still.”

Ollie: “I was sitting perfectly still until you attacked me with that brush!”

Stan: “I wasn't attacking you.”

Ollie: “Then what were you doing?”

Stan: “Painting.”

Ollie: “You were supposed to paint the wall!”

Stan: “I was getting to the wall.”

Ollie: “You have been painting everything except the wall!”

Stan: “That's not true.”

Ollie: “What have you painted?”

Stan: “The ladder.”

Ollie: “Yes.”

Stan: “The floor.”

Ollie: “Yes!”

Stan: “The bucket.”

Ollie: “Yes!”

Stan: “Your trousers.”

Ollie: “YES!”

Stan: “And now your face.”

Ollie: “Exactly!”

Stan: “So you see? I'm making excellent progress.”

Ollie: “Stanley, give me that brush!”

Stan: “Why?”

Ollie: “Because you're fired!”

Stan: “But who will finish the job?”

Ollie: “I will!”

Stan: “Are you sure?”

Ollie: “Absolutely.”

Stan: “All right.”

Ollie: “Now hand me the brush.”

Stan: “Here.”

Ollie: “Thank you.”

Stan: “You're welcome.”

Ollie: “Stanley…”

Stan: “Yes?”

Ollie: “Why is there paint dripping from the ceiling?”

Stan: “Oh, I forgot to tell you.”

Ollie: “Tell me WHAT?”

Stan: “I painted upstairs first.”

Ollie: “THERE IS NO UPSTAIRS!”

Stan: “Well, that explains the problem.”

Stanley and Ollie have stopped to repair their old automobile, but within minutes, the repair job has turned into a complete mechanical disaster. ????????

Stan: “Ollie, are you absolutely certain this is the right way to fix the wheel?”

Ollie: “Stanley, I have repaired automobiles before.”

Stan: “Really? How many?”

Ollie: “Several.”

Stan: “And how many are still running?”

Ollie: “That's beside the point.”

Stan: “I don't think it is.”

Ollie: “Just hold the wheel steady.”

Stan: “Like this?”

Ollie: “Yes. Don't move.”

Stan: “All right.”

Ollie: “Now hand me the wrench.”

Stan: “Which one?”

Ollie: “The large one.”

Stan: “This one?”

Ollie: “No, the other large one.”

Stan: “This one?”

Ollie: “Yes!”

Stan: “Here you are.”

Ollie: “Thank you.”

Stan: “You're welcome.”

Ollie: “Stanley, why are you still holding it?”

Stan: “You didn't take it.”

Ollie: “I can't take it if you won't let go!”

Stan: “Oh.”

Ollie: “Now let go.”

Stan: “All right.”

Ollie: “Thank you.”

Stan: “Ollie?”

Ollie: “What?”

Stan: “I think something just fell off.”

Ollie: “What fell off?”

Stan: “I'm not sure.”

Ollie: “Then why did you say something fell off?”

Stan: “Because I heard it.”

Ollie: “Where is it?”

Stan: “Over there.”

Ollie: “That's the hubcap!”

Stan: “Was it supposed to stay on?”

Ollie: “Of course it was!”

Stan: “Then perhaps we should put it back.”

Ollie: “Fine. Hand it to me.”

Stan: “I can't.”

Ollie: “Why not?”

Stan: “I think another part is attached to it.”

Ollie: “What part?”

Stan: “I don't know.”

Ollie: “Stanley!”

Stan: “Yes?”

Ollie: “Stop touching things!”

Stan: “I'm only trying to help.”

Ollie: “Every time you help, another part falls off!”

Stan: “Well, maybe the car is helping us.”

Ollie: “How could the car possibly be helping us?”

Stan: “It's making itself easier to carry.”

Ollie: “Stanley, this is the worst repair job I've ever seen!”

Stan: “But Ollie…”

Ollie: “What now?”

Stan: “The car isn't the only thing that has a problem.”

Ollie: “What do you mean?”

Stan: “I think you've put the wheel on backwards.”

Ollie: “BACKWARDS?”

Stan: “Yes.”

Ollie: “And how exactly did you notice that?”

Stan: “The car is facing the other way.”

Ollie: “Stanley…”

Stan: “Yes, Ollie?”

Ollie: “Get in the car.”

Stan: “Why?”

Ollie: “We're leaving.”

Stan: “But we haven't fixed it.”

Ollie: “Exactly.”

Stanley and Ollie were only trying to fix a fire hydrant… but somehow Ollie ended up taking a shower in the middle of Main Street! ????

Stan: “Ollie, I think something is wrong with this hydrant.”

Ollie: “Stanley, you turned the water on before I could tighten the valve!”

Stan: “I thought you said it was already tight.”

Ollie: “I said it was almost tight!”

Stan: “Well, now it’s very tight.”

Ollie: “Stanley, look at me!”

Stan: “I am looking.”

Ollie: “I am completely soaked!”

Stan: “Yes, I noticed that.”

Ollie: “And you're smiling!”

Stan: “I was just thinking how clean you look.”

Ollie: “CLEAN?! My suit is ruined!”

Stan: “Don't worry, Ollie. The water will wash it.”

Ollie: “That's not the point!”

Stan: “Then what is the point?”

Ollie: “The point is that you're supposed to be holding the wrench!”

Stan: “Oh…”

Ollie: “Where is it?”

Stan: “I put it down.”

Ollie: “WHERE?”

Stan: “Right there.”

Ollie: “That's the hydrant cap!”

Stan: “Oh.”

Ollie: “Stanley!”

Stan: “What?”

Ollie: “You just made the water spray harder!”

Stan: “I was only trying to help.”

Ollie: “You always say that just before everything goes wrong!”

Stan: “Well… at least we're getting the sidewalk washed.”

Ollie: “Stanley, RUN!”

Stan: “Why?”

Ollie: “Because the whole street is flooding!”

Stan: “Oh. Should we call someone?”

Ollie: “YES!”

Stan: “Who?”

Ollie: “THE FIRE DEPARTMENT!”

Stan: “Good idea. They probably know how to turn off a fire hydrant.”

Ollie: “Stanley… I'm going to turn YOU off!”

Stan: “Ollie, I think we're ready to go fishing!”

Ollie: “Stanley, we're standing on a dock. Where's the boat?”

Stan: “I thought you were bringing it.”

Ollie: “I thought you rented it!”

Stan: “Then we're both very well organized.”

Ollie: “And what exactly are you doing with that enormous fishing net?”

Stan: “Catching fish.”

Ollie: “With a net?”

Stan: “Yes.”

Ollie: “Then why am I holding a fishing rod?”

Stan: “For emergencies.”

Ollie: “What sort of emergency requires a fishing rod?”

Stan: “A fish that gets away from the net.”

Ollie: “Stanley, that's called fishing.”

Stan: “Exactly! I'm glad you understand.”

Ollie: “I don't understand anything.”

Stan: “Don't worry. I've got a plan.”

Ollie: “That makes me even more worried.”

Stan: “I'll catch the fish with the net, and you can row the boat.”

Ollie: “We still don't have a boat!”

Stan: “Then we'd better catch one before we leave.”

Ollie: “Stanley!”

Stan: “What?”

Ollie: “You're standing on my fishing line.”

Stan: “Oh.”

Ollie: “And the line is wrapped around your foot.”

Stan: “Oh.”

Ollie: “And you're pulling me toward the water!”

Stan: “That's strange.”

Ollie: “Stanley, let go!”

Stan: “I would, but I seem to have caught something.”

Ollie: “What?”

Stan: “You.”

Stan: “Ollie, I’ve got everything under control!”

Ollie: “Stanley, I’m tied to a handcart surrounded by crates. Nothing about this looks under control.”

Stan: “I tied the rope very carefully.”

Ollie: “You tied me very carefully. The cart is still completely loose.”

Stan: “That’s because the cart needs to move.”

Ollie: “Then why am I the one attached to it?”

Stan: “I thought it would make loading easier.”

Ollie: “Easier for whom?”

Stan: “For me.”

Ollie: “Naturally.”

Stan: “Now, when I pull this rope, you simply stay seated.”

Ollie: “And what happens when the cart starts rolling?”

Stan: “You stay seated.”

Ollie: “And when it hits something?”

Stan: “You stay seated.”

Ollie: “And when the entire warehouse comes down around us?”

Stan: “Well... then you may stand up.”

Ollie: “Thank you, Stanley. Your safety instructions are wonderfully reassuring.”

Stan: “Ready?”

Ollie: “No.”

Stan: “Good!”

Ollie: “Stanley—WAIT!”

Stan: “I only pulled a little.”

Ollie: “A little?! You’ve moved the cart, three crates, and nearly moved me into next Tuesday!”

Stan: “See? We're making excellent progress.”

Ollie: “The only thing progressing is my headache.”

Stan: “Don't worry, Ollie. I'll untie you.”

Ollie: “Please do.”

Stan: “Just give me a minute.”

Ollie: “Why?”

Stan: “I can't remember which end of the rope I tied.”

Ollie: “Stanley!”

Stan: "Careful, Ollie! I'm putting the gravel exactly where it belongs."

Ollie: "Stanley, you're putting it directly over the open manhole!"

Stan: "Yes. That's where the gravel is needed."

Ollie: "It's a hole, not a flower bed!"

Stan: "Don't worry. I've got a system."

Ollie: "Your systems usually involve me getting dirty."

Stan: "Just stand there and watch."

Ollie: "That's what I'm doing. I'm watching my afternoon disappear."

Stan: "A little more gravel should do it."

Ollie: "A little more?! The hole is still open!"

Stan: "Then we need more gravel."

Ollie: "Or perhaps we should simply put the cover back on."

Stan: "But then how would we know where the hole is?"

Ollie: "There's a large sign saying DANGER — DEEP EXCAVATION!"

Stan: "Exactly. That's why I put the gravel here—to make the sign easier to see."

Ollie: "Stanley, I fear the city hired us to repair the street, not redesign it."

Stan: "Don't be impatient, Ollie. We're making excellent progress."

Ollie: "The only thing making progress is the gravel... straight toward my shoes."

Stan: "Oops."

Ollie: "What now?"

Stan: "I think I just buried the shovel."

Ollie: "Of course you did."

Stan: "I found the puncture, Ollie!"

Ollie: "Excellent. Kindly repair that one and not invent three more."

Stan: "I've got a very clever method."

Ollie: "Stanley, your clever methods always end with me buying new parts."

Stan: "All I need is this lever... and a little confidence."

Ollie: "I'd rather you had experience."

Stan: "Experience takes longer."

Ollie: "So does walking home after you've ruined the tire."

Stan: "There! The tube's almost out."

Ollie: "The tube is out. My patience is disappearing even faster."

Stan: "Should I pull a little harder?"

Ollie: "Those words have never improved a mechanical repair."

Stan: "It'll pop right back in."

Ollie: "The only thing about to pop is my temper."

Stan: "Don't worry, Ollie. I know exactly what I'm doing."

Ollie: "That, Stanley, is the most alarming statement you've made all morning."

Stan: "If anything goes wrong, we'll simply start over."

Ollie: "Judging by your progress... I suspect that's already the plan."

Stan: "I told you I'd help with the delivery, Ollie."

Ollie: "Helping usually involves riding the bicycle, not pushing it from behind."

Stan: "I thought if I pushed, you'd arrive quicker."

Ollie: "At the moment, I'm arriving at exhaustion."

Stan: "You're doing splendidly. The bicycle hasn't complained once."

Ollie: "That's because I'm doing all the complaining for both of us."

Stan: "Should we take the soft road?"

Ollie: "With this load, every road feels hard."

Stan: "Maybe if you pedal faster, the parcels will feel lighter."

Ollie: "Stanley, that isn't how weight works."

Stan: "It might if we don't stop to think about it."

Ollie: "Thinking is the only thing preventing me from leaving this bicycle in the nearest ditch."

Stan: "Then perhaps you should think happier thoughts."

Ollie: "My happiest thought at the moment is imagining you riding this contraption."

Stan: "I'd be delighted... once we've delivered everything."

Ollie: "By then there won't be any strength left to pedal."

Stan: "I'll give one last push."

Ollie: "That's exactly what worries me. Every time you say 'one last push,' something expensive ends up broken."

Stan: "Cheer up, Ollie. We're almost there."

Ollie: "Stanley... with you behind me, I'm never certain whether we're almost there... or almost in trouble."
