Main Street downtown is currently closed in both directions.

An overnight vehicle pursuit originating in Muskingum County entered Licking County and continued through parts of Newark, according to scanner traffic and live updates.

πŸ”Ž TIMELINE OF EVENTS (CHRONOLOGICAL)

β€’ Pursuit entered Licking County from Muskingum County

β€’ Helicopter deployed and tracking the vehicle from the air

β€’ Vehicle reported traveling at high speeds (60–90 MPH)

β€’ Passed Dayton Road, Brownsville Road, Marne Road, and the downtown area

β€’ At one point, speeds slowed to approximately 50 MPH

β€’ Vehicle traveled West Main Street, reaching speeds near 80 MPH

β€’ Spike strips deployed near Williams Street & Main Street

β€’ Vehicle lost a tire while continuing through the area

β€’ Newark Police blocked exits and prepared for a PIT maneuver
