🚨 Perry County Fatal Crash – 32-Year-Old Man Killed 🚨

Yesterday afternoon, tragedy struck in Monroe Township (Perry County).

At 3:41 p.m., the Ohio State Highway Patrol says a Honda driven by Donald Bernard, 32, crossed left of center on Chapel Hill Road near SR-13. His car collided head-on with a Nissan traveling the opposite direction. The Nissan was forced off the roadway after the impact.

Sadly, Donald Bernard did not survive the crash. 💔

Authorities remain on scene investigating what led up to the collision.

OHIO VS. DYLAN HESS ⚖️

🚨 Newark Man Sentenced in Brutal Case 🚨

On September 2nd, 2025, Dylan Hess was sentenced to 11–16.5 years in prison after pleading guilty to multiple violent charges, including Felonious Assault, Strangulation, Kidnapping, Aggravated Possession of Drugs, and Intimidation of a Witness.

👉 Court records show that between Feb. 19 – Mar. 20, 2024, Hess repeatedly assaulted and strangled his girlfriend, often in the presence of children. He used a wooden bat, leaving her body bruised and bloodied. After being released on bail, Hess kidnapped and assaulted the same victim again on April 27.

📸 During sentencing, the prosecutor showed shocking photographs of the victim’s injuries and played audio of Hess abusing her. Judge Branstool delivered the prison sentence after calling out the ongoing violent behavior.

⚖️ Just days earlier, on Aug. 28, 2025, Hess was also convicted of Domestic Violence against the same victim.

A male subject took his own life with a firearm. When first responders arrived, he was already DOA (deceased on arrival). The firearm has been safely recovered by police.

Earlier this evening, scanner traffic reported a shooting in the area of 6th Street and Wilson Avenue. Initial information indicated two males were seen fleeing the scene.

One possible suspect was described as a Black male wearing a black hoodie.

Reports suggested a possible second male suspect, though details are not confirmed.

Comments later noted that one individual has been detained, but law enforcement has not yet released an official update.

Newark schools were thrown into lockdown again Friday morning after another false swatting call targeted Wilson Middle School. Police say the call came in around 10:30 a.m., forcing Wilson, Newark Catholic High School, and McGuffey Elementary into emergency protocols. Officers swept the buildings and confirmed there was no real threat.

This marks the second swatting scare of the school year in Newark. For one local mother, it was the breaking point—she has decided to remove her children from the district, saying she can’t risk their safety after back-to-back false alarms.

Just before 6:00 PM tonight, crews responded to a working residential fire on Buckingham Street. A massive column of black smoke could be seen from miles away as the first engines arrived.

Firefighters quickly hooked up to a nearby hydrant and began attacking the flames. The heavy dark smoke, then turned white as crews continue active suppression efforts.
