Is this the best music that came out of 9/11?
There’s a lot of 9/11 inspired music out there (Ween, Toby Keith. Etc) But there’s only one band I know of that says 9/11 is what inspired them to start playing music altogether, and that’s My Chemical Romance.

5 of Illinois’ best bands!
Go check out all the bands and artists in this video, and support them in any way you can! In this series, I search out and highlight underground/indie/DIY/non-mainstream rock or rock-adjacent bands and musicians under 100k-ish monthly listeners on Spotify! (Earth Wind and Fire, Smashing Pumpkins, Styx, Wilco etc are all great but out of the scope of this project!)
Songs:
Ratboys, “Penny in the Lake”
Feller, “In and Then Out Comes”
Post Animal, “Gelatin Mode”
The Courts, “Wayve”
Horsegirl, “Switch Over”

Disclosure: all the records discussed in this reel were sent to me as gifts from the associated labels or bands, but I received no money to mention them on my page.

Did you know this song is a cover?
Istanbul (Not Constantinople) was written on the 500 year anniversary of Constantinople’s fall to the Ottoman Empire by Jimmy Kennedy and Nat Simon.
